If you tune in at the jump, you’ll notice a difference between the 2 teams. USC has quite a bit of length.

Based solely on the box score this seems to have been another Franball defensive and rebounding masterpiece.

USC being hot from 3 is the least surprising thing about that game. Iowas 2-3 zone is fools gold. It only looks ‘active’ as the announcers say when the other team is bricking 3s like Indiana did. Iowa doesn’t contest a lot of shots so it’s essentially pure luck if the other team makes or misses.

It’s also why Iowa has basically been a 10-10 type Big Ten team under Fran. Go 8-2 at home and hope to go 2-8 on the road. Iowa scored right at their average on offense. Iowa basically scored right at their average in the Wisconsin game as well. Neither game was particularly competitive (they did get this within 5 with 4:30 left but it immediately went back to double digits). None of that matters when you don’t force the other team to take difficult shots. It’s really shocking this style doesn’t translate to a lot of March success.

At halftime I retired to the bedroom assuming I'd fall asleep quick, but then we started playing better and I ended up staying awake and watching the whole damn thing (Full disclosure, at time outs I would turn it to King of Queens on TV Land and a couple times I got so engaged in those episodes that I would get back to the game late. They were showing the ones where Doug does something stupid and then Doug and Carrie fight and then Arthur does something crazy and yells a few times and Doug and his idiot friends (Deacon, Danny, Spence) do some dumb but funny things).
