Maybe don't have a back up RB playing WR in the slot running a slant at the goal line.
Just run the ball at that point. Lester is doing a good job, but, that was a bad design and play call at that moment.
Lolol what stupid take

Of course the dad liked it

The 3rd down escape/long run on the first drive was as big as the saved fumble.

Iowa got some breaks but looked like better team for the bulk of the game. Very satisfying win.
That early long run by Gronowski was huge and a great play, The defender just bounced off him and he had the awareness to find an open lane.

Agreed, and Iowa left points on the field with the turnover in the EZ and also kept giving Vandy drive after drive via stupid penalties or weak calls like the roughing the passer.

I watched Vandy in person when they had a very similar game against Texas earlier this year. Same thing, Texas jumped all over them and they were dominated most of the game until making a furious late comeback because they have explosive receivers and Pavia really is a dynamic player and a gamer that makes big plays in the 2nd half.

At some point Lester has to be able to sell a passing game to recruits. Throwing for multiple TDs during a bowl game with a ton of people watching was a great opportunity to put something on display that a lot of people didn’t expect from Iowa. Sure, you can run the ball all day long successfully but the offense was impressive in part because they took some shots. I have absolutely no issue with that call. That’s the only way to change the narrative.

Iowa deserves to end the season ranked somewhere around #17, but of course there is no CFP poll at the end of the year and the AP and Coaches still didn't have Iowa ranked in their latest poll despite them being ranked #23.

I'm guessing they end up at #24 or #23 in the final AP poll and maybe #22 in the Coaches.

when Indiana and Oregon make the semis, they’ve got an argument for significantly
better than 17 imo

I cannot believe anyone who isn’t a fucking retard thinks the pass was bad. There’s no fucking say you’re not a retard if you think that.

a perfect pass is generally thought of to be on the numbers, not head high.
This must just be a ridiculous attempt to double down because surely you are smart enough to realize that more often than not a receiver is not in a position where hitting them in the numbers would even be possible. Sometimes a receiver has to jump to high point a ball. Sometimes a throw needs to come in over a shoulder. Sometimes it needs to be thrown low and away where a receiver has to dive in order to keep it away from a defender. Sometimes a receiver is running a slant where their numbers will never be square to the ball. For example, I don’t know if you ever saw the Tate to Holliway pass, but that ball did not hot Warren Holloway in the numbers. That was a pretty good pass, right?

Gronowski had a clear passing lane. The pass was a tad high- not perfect. Especially when the target had 7 catches all season.

He was open. He should have caught it. That’s the only point worth talking about.
