I dunno, it was kinda fun bitching about that completely retarded scoring format for many years.

I picture a very simple formula of guessing the spread right. For example in my scenario above, I'm saying Iowa will win by 27. If they win by 28 I receive a score of 1. If they win by 24 or 30 I receive the same score of 3. Low score prevails and there is a penalty of say 3 points if you have the wrong victor, so for example in a close contest, if you guess Iowa will win by 3 and they actually lose by 3 you receive a score of 6 plus a 3 pt penalty for a total of 9 that week. Once again, low score prevails and you should accumulate a running total for the season like a golf score.
