Our run blocking is legit bad. Worried about that. Couldn't even open it up today throwing the ball every first down in the first half. Winters is really small.

The biggest problem they need to figure out very quickly is what their offensive identity is. Lester seems to not have a clue. I don't know if they can't run because they can't, or if they can't because they are more worried about slinging it around to prove to the WR recruits that they can and will do it.

The QB's aren't very good and Moulton seems to be mediocre as shit again. so I don't know. Maybe the line sucks, maybe the calls and timing are bad.

Either way, they don't have much of an identity and they should be throwing DJV the ball about 5 times more per game and Braden Jackson should get the ball in space about 5-10 times per game.

Iowa threw the ball 32 times and ran it 16 times with their RB's. That's not Iowa.

I get we REALLY want to impress Tony Diaz and use him and keep him and all that, but this isn't Iowa Football and it's not going to work. Run the ball and use your stud TE's and play action to the WR's.

If they keep up this ratio they are going to get murdered by the Big Ten West and the defense is going to be on the team all game long the rest of the season.

For as great as the defensive coaches are, there are always 2-3 players that shouldn't be playing with much better younger players behind them that shouldn't be playing. Last year it was a guy like whatever that shitty LB's name was.

This year it's Van Dipshit and one of the D-Line guys. Manson should be playing now. Pull the training wheels off please. Anderson should be playing a lot more.

100% there's always johnny practice well from deep river that gets way too many snaps in games

Michigan was the same way, 35 passes and 21 rushes by the RB's.

That ain't Iowa football. I'm glad they won, but that will not consistently win. They have to quickly figure out how to run the ball up everyone's ass again.

Relying on Hank Brown to sling the ball around 35 times when the weather starts to turn cold in a few weeks ain't gonna work.

I’m sure it’s been mentioned but Lester fucked that up at the end of the first half by allowing an incompletion on 3rd and 12 in their own territory. Not that they were going to win anyways but not running the ball there is the difference between being down 1 or 2 scores at half..

i was at my cousins house so saw very little of chat and haven't read this thread.

shit way to start, obviously. essentially the reverse of amani hooker.

i thought iowa should have gone for it when they kicked that first fg. uncle was convinced that was just telling your team you don't think they're as good as the other team but....yeah?

obviously the illegal formation sucked. even if you get no points after that first you're still down 4 vs 11 at half.

Thought the defense played well, all things considered. smith was wide open on that second touchdown but by that point iowa had some injuries

not sure if the running game sucks or if the ol sucks at run blocking but any team with a pulse has been hard to run against.

osu is a great team. they shouldn't have lost to texas, i won't be shocked if they win it all.

lastly, looks like i'll be one off on my prediction for regular season wins. oh well.

Ok, so you are saying that the head Coach of a football program has no input on the offensive game plan? Or that the head Coach of a football program couldn't get rid of a coordinator today if they wanted to?

There is nothing too alarming about this game. Iowa shot themselves in the foot on the first drive and Ohio States last drive of the first half.

I do wish they would have extended the qb competition. Still think heck has something hank doesn't.

This teams direction sort of reminds me of the decision the COVID shortened season 2020 team had to make. They came out in the first couple games and threw 40 times and lost a 4 point game to Purdue and then Peaches threw FIFTY times on a 1 point loss to Northwestern.

If I remember correctly, Kirk said something about not having an Iowa identity and they were going to correct that. I assume he sat Brian down and told him to knock it the fuck off because after that game they started running it up people's asses and ended up destroying teams.

Would be nice if the same reminder is given from Kirk to Lester that they aren't a pass it 35 times and run it 17 times type of program. This shit will not work unless they correct it very very quickly.
