Regarding false positives, this article from the day before Purdue basically says that 20% (1 - .97^5) of the players will miss a game because of a false positive test the day before they game. The only thing that really makes sense is the doctor is treating these false positives as actual positives.

Let's split the baby and say half the conference has had re-infections that were reported on these weekly calls with the good doctor - that'd be at least 7 which ignores the implications that there are multiple re-infections at each school. Given such a small sample size relative to the overall population, this would be kind of a big deal. And that ignores the fact that these reinfections likely would have taken place in a relatively short time period. It's not like these are guys that got it back in March and then got it again last week. It'd be more likely they got it in August or whenever teams began testing and then got re-infected less than 3 months later which would make the prospects of a vaccine rather bleak.
