It isn't a case of reinfection if the first time was a false positive. So if they now are using a highly reliable test, any new 2nd time positive is far and away most likely to be a false positive from before.

Hey BillyBob, I just texted the actual medical professional and his response was first, go fuck yourself and second, they have seen cases of reinfection across the country. They have not seen false positives occur after September when they switched to the PCR test, so again, go fuck yourself.
Jim, the guy growing lingonberries and weed on 5th street and Friendship street prob isn’t a doctor. Just FYI.

I am so fucking triggered that I read every single one of those case reports. Even in those rare isolated cases, despite strong methodology to confirm covid reinfection, in some cases the doctors still were not sure that it was true reinfection.

There is, however, a pediatric cardiologist at the University of Iowa who is sitting on a treasure trove of cases.

Hong Kong, Netherlands, Belgium, Ecuador. And the Iowa Football Team. Outside of the two deeps.

This was mentioned.

Same doc that UofI used on to justify beginning big ten play.

If you’re testing a large (100+) asymptomatic population multiple times per week, there will be false positives.
Regarding false positives, this article from the day before Purdue basically says that 20% (1 - .97^5) of the players will miss a game because of a false positive test the day before they game. The only thing that really makes sense is the doctor is treating these false positives as actual positives.

Hold on a second, let's not pretend that from the start you were talking about or suggesting false positives. That only came up after the fact when an explanation was needed.

The intent from the start was very clear that players from June are being infected again and that COVID-19 re-infection is real and a growing issue.

Of course it was. And dumbass Jim will parade around like he's not a dipshit should there be an unlikely reinfection.

I entirely believe that Iowa has had some players test positive for covid twice. I don't believe Iowa has had any players contract covid twice.
What about covering up those second positive tests with a "mono" diagnosis because Fort Kinnick?

As of October 12, 2020 there are 5 comprehensively documented cases of covid reinfection in the medical literature. In the world.

There are also multiple cases within Fort Kinnick. Being covered up as mononucleosis.

Let the record show I like @Jim , but this is Halo Thunderdome and things like this can not be allowed and one must bash the person over the head with this until he submits or his brains spill from his e-head.

I mean, this right here spells out he thinks players are actually re-infected and is being covered up as "mono".

It's hilariously absurd.
That’s not what I was responding to. It was your absurd claim that no one in the two deeps has been withheld from competition due to a covid positive test.

Meh. I can take it. If it keeps Frodumb over here and away from the gameday football thread, I’ve done my job.

Where are the hold outs from the 2 deeps, Jim?

Not just at Iowa but around the Big Ten. Let's split the baby and say half the conference has had re-infections that were reported on these weekly calls with the good doctor - that'd be at least 7 which ignores the implications that there are multiple re-infections at each school. Given such a small sample size relative to the overall population, this would be kind of a big deal. And that ignores the fact that these reinfections likely would have taken place in a relatively short time period. It's not like these are guys that got it back in March and then got it again last week. It'd be more likely they got it in August or whenever teams began testing and then got re-infected less than 3 months later which would make the prospects of a vaccine rather bleak.

Who has even missed time in the 2 deeps so far after 5 games?

QB, RB, WR, TE, FB, DB, Special Teams all haven't had a single player in the 2 deeps miss a game (besides ISM suspension for a game).

OL has had 2 guys miss games (Cronk/Schott) and they were both confirmed injuries.

DL has had 1 guy out due to injury (Schultte) and another (Waggoner) for COVID.

LB has only had Campbell (mono) and Benson (COVID).

So, at best, even with a super duper conspiracy of hiding COVID via "mono" would leave one single player in the 2 deeps as the smoking gun.

1 player out of 50 guys.

Lolz.

If someone tested positive in June, could it not be possible for another infection 5 months later in November? The surmised immunity period is estimated to be 6 months. Could be longer with some people (hopefully), could be shorter with others no?

Anything is possible! We covered the totality of "confirmed" reinfections earlier in the thread. A handful out of 55,000,000 people. The university of Iowa's football program is now ground zero for global reinfections.

Illinois doing exactly what they should be doing against a middle-of-the-road + mid-major 2019 team NC A&T -- though Illinois freshman PG Adam Miller looks really good. 5 of 6 from three. He was the #33 recruit in the country. Chose Illinois over Kansas, Arizona, and Louisville. As a team, they put up 58 in the first half.

Despite how good they might be and how much it would help the conference image; Fuck Illinois.

And fuck that Iowa only plays them once, at their place, this year.

Are they supposed to be any good this year? Losing Liam Roberts and that guard Murphy will certainly hurt.
they picked up a transfer wing from Green Bay that grew up with/played JUCO with Anthony Murphy and got Anthony’s twin back from injury. Transfer from Seton Hall replaced Robbin.
