Oregon’s usage of Bol Bol seemed bizarre. I remember only two plays they ran for him that they should have been doing the whole game. A dribble drive and dish to him for a dunk, and a semi alley-oop when the hawks were in zone. It is either poor coaching or their players are dumb, as they proceeded to chuck 3’s and throw up circus shots at the basket all game.

That being said Iowa played great defense, both zone and man. And Bol Bol kinda sucks. He’s tall but pretty overrated for his skill set.

The one play where we had a switch and JBo ended up defending Bol in the post. I mean, how in the hell do you not get him the ball in that case? And they bricked a three attempt instead.

He double dribbled to get by him, but the little jumper was good.

I’ll be fine with being wrong if he continues to improve, but at this point he is overrated. Certainly a lot of potential, but he seems like a project to me, he could just as easily be a bust in my mind.

bol will have some impressive games at oregon, then go on to frustrate NBA coaches for a decade. too thin for the 4, not quite explosive enough for the 3, yet skilled and athletic enough to hang around the league for a long time.

I thought Bol Bol looked good before he gassed out. He had 4 or 5 blocks in the first half. They never targeted him on offense. They could have thrown an alley-oop to him over our zone damn near every time down the floor. When he caught the ball in the middle of the zone, he passed to the open man every time for an open shot. I thought our big guy played really well. We contested and changed a lot of shots in the paint without fouling. That was nice to see.

To my utter amazement and delight, NO, it wasn't at all! They absolutely won that game with their defense.

Group of Jrs looked like they got it for the first time. It was appalling when they debuted the conga line defense against Seton Hall as frosh, incompetent with even basic ball you man position and zone/help awareness. Huh, maybe there's a reason every other college coach outside of Grinnell practices defense a lot, sure seems to make for a better team.

In the Jrs defense, as frosh the rest of the team was Jok and slow guys. Adding Luka, Joe, and Connor, talented guys that play their ass off, is a big upgrade defensively.

Nice to get a win against a top 15 team when Cook, Weiskamp, and bohannon all played below average.

Cook wasn’t amazing offensively, but his defense and rebounding was very good. He looked like Reggie Evans out there chasing boards.

Cook was good on defense, as was the whole team. They obviously have had it drilled into their heads that defense must improve this year. Regarding Cook, I get nervous whenever he's got the ball at a distance from the hoop. He often tries to do too much, drives through a crowd of defenders, and gets out of control. Had to agree with that one commentator who said Cook does better with the ball when he's closer to the basket.
