I'm toying with flying into Chicago on that Wednesday to attend this year, and I'm wondering who's gone, their experience with tickets, etc.

Like the I am a giant douche football championship, it should always and only be held in Indianapolis so I would wait until next year to go. Also, buy good seats. When Iowa loses early you can easily get your money back selling your good seats outside the arena to other team's fans or to brokers. The market for bad seat tickets is awful and you won't get shit for those.

I've been twice-once in Chicago and once in Indy. Completely agree it should always be in Indy. I love Chicago, but nothing beats having hotels, bars and the arena all in the same small area.

CSB- My record as an Iowa-fan attendee is 6-0. Arrived on Friday in 2001 and watched the last 3 games of a 4 game run to the title. Fun thing seeing the two teams we couldn't have beat get beat right before our Friday and Saturday games. Penn State knocked off Michigan State and Indiana beat Illinois. So even as a 6 seed, we had a very manageable path. The next year in Indy, got there for Thursday's game and went to the first three games. Had to leave for my company's annual meeting on Sunday morning, so missed getting beat in the final. Games 2 and 3 were as good as it gets, knocking off Wisconsin and Indiana, both on last second shots by Luke Recker.

Had tickets to go in 2015, but Hawks pissed the opener down their legs before we arrived and we bailed on going to any non-Iowa games.

That seems to be the benefit of Chicago over Indy. If you lose early in Chicago, you’ve got a free weekend in a great city.

Indy for football (because of Lucas Oil) but hell no for hoops. Indy is a nice enough city but apart from St Elmo, the restaurant options kinda suck and the hotel options are limited.

Absent a big sporting event, there's a reason people don't plan weekend getaways to Indianapolis.
