I actually thought that defensive rotations looked better. Hard to say if that will mean anything. It looked like your typical early season slop, but the lack of athleticism shows. Good Iowa teams have overcome that in other ways. I wouldn’t completely write this team off as the same as last year

Another local place, Bud and Walts, closed down after being in business for 10 years. It was our local go-to place
My all time favorite was a place in Springfield called Calgaro's. It was basically a gay/lesbian hangout, but by far the best pizza I've ever had. Plus, $1 Coors Light bottles all day, every day. There are still two in existence, about 1.5 hours north of here.

The problem with starting Connor and Jordan together is you would be asking your backup pg to run all over the place coming off screens. Yes Jordan would likely sub out first in that scenario but you’re really hurting 2 spots.

I’d prefer they just start Dailey and if Moss doesn’t get the message then have fun at Illinois-Chicago.

I’m sure the rankings are fine. It’s just the roster composition. Cook is a freak athlete but I don’t see him thriving as the #1 option. Hopefully weiskamp and Garza can take some of the burden off him.

Ball movement was markedly better with McCAFFERY in at PG.

This. Too many guys who lack both 1) good defensive instincts and 2) lateral quickness. Surely, the staff has been trying to address the former, but, sometimes some kids just don't get it as well or as quickly as others, even with good coaching.

You can carry a couple of guys who are sluggish defensive liabilities. You can't carry five or six guys like that.

Ftr I'm still optimistic about them, although a bit tempered after watching last night. Joe is the real deal and that alone will make them NIT worthy. This overstates a bit, but yep -- most teams that are consistently in the tourney have 5-6 top 150 kids on the roster, year in, year out. Also, as we've seen with kids like Dev and White, the difference between the unranked 3 star and the ranked 3 star can be pretty damn small, and can be more than overcome with player development. So even if you do have four of five top-150 kids, that's might still be middle or bottom of the pack in a power five conference.

The talent on the roster is solid. The mix would have been a top-25 team in 1985, but sucks for the modern game.

I think the overestimation also has to do with Fran hitting on a few under the radar guys like Marble and White.
