NBA draft 3 pt % predictive models put more emphasis on ft % and 3 pt attempts/game than 3 pt %; so Patrick would likely score higher on those. But honestly, both are pretty bad shooters.

Rebecca has never shot below 50% from the field in 4 years and is 60% this year while shooting 36.6% from three last year (15-41).

Patrick has never shot above 43.8% from the field and is shooting 25% from three.

Rebraca has struggled against high major competition and been solid against mid major competition, which is probably where his talent should be.

That’s not a knock on him, because he’s a good player, but he’s going to struggle in most Big Ten games.

He appears to be getting a little more comfortable and figuring out where he fits with the team each game.

Patrick on the other hand is such an odd player. If he plays 20 minutes, 8 minutes he’s pretty good and 12 minutes he just looks goofy out there. I really want to see a lineup of Ulis-Perkins-Patrick-Murray-Murray.

That isn't really true though. In the 5 games against high major competition (going to count Utah State in this given the neutral site and their KenPom ranking)....

11-18 from the field (61%). Assists are better. Rebounding a bit less. Same minutes. I think we have this impression of Rebraca because the poor fucking guy was thrown to the wolves in back to back games trying to guard the 2 giant guys at Purdue and Kofi Cockburn. Fran didn't exactly help him that second game letting Cockburn go wild.

Rebecca is pretty bad shooter who has self awareness and will shoot the occasional open jumper, but does his damage in the low or mid post.

Patrick is a pretty bad shooter who thinks he's a great shooter, so he takes stupid and difficult shots.

Anyways, the point isn't that Rebraca is great or even really good. He is a solid role player that Iowa needs this year. He also has only played 10 games with this team and in Fran's system. Let's give him a little more time to fit in.

Not to piss off Frodo with a minutes breakdown post, but going into January Fran should try to tighten up the rotation up and fix the minutes as much as possible.

Murray / Murray / Perkins should be playing 28 - 30+ minutes per game. Patrick / Rebraca / Ulis on the next tier and Toussaint / bohannon are your wildcards. Sometimes they will play 30, sometimes 12. Try to work in Sandfort. Ogundele can play situational games.

Connor can stay on the bench.

I disagree about working Sandfort in. If the team is struggling then sure toss him in to see if he provides a spark. If not then he’s extending the rotation just to extend the rotation. It seems unnatural to toss him in there around the 5 minute mark of the first half.

Let him develop behind the scenes and be a key part of next years team.

I was referring to Kris Murray being a better shooter actually, which should hardly be contriversial. The fact we had a drawn out misunderstanding and several posts discussing whether rebraca is a better shooter than Patrick is frankly damning of Patrick by itself.

Patrick is a nice player. He'd be nicer coming off the bench. Both murrays should be playing until they need a blow. Once they get a blow, they should immediately get back in. Whether at the 3, 4 or 5 positions, whatever, they should be on the floor. That's not hard. Or at least shouldnt be.

The only positive aspect of the glaring nepotism of patrick starting and getting more minutes than kris is that it is significantly less ridiculous than coach's other less talented son starting and bogarting minutes over the current all america candidate. At least THAT stopped.

Its pretty stupid at this point and will definitely be used against coach on the trail.
