The firing of Bobby Kennedy is indispensable, and we cannot lose sight of that fact.

I think he will do fine. I like his competitiveness, his enthusiasm, and his knowing the "Hawkeye way" of doing things. Morehouse says the kids love him. That is a huge plus with the way this generation chooses schools and sticks with their choices.

With all that said, he had better be good. With his age and bloodlines he will be next to impossible to remove if he sucks (GDGD v. 2.0).

Lastly, I am haunted by the mental picture of Doug and Frodo creating the shit/semen meal for 6deuce.

I like how punters think they should have an opinion on anything. You're not a football player. If you must be heard, self deprecation is the only route like our boy Coluzzi. Pat Mcafee gets it.

There's no way he isn't an emergency WR, or gets occasional looks out of the wildcat, is there?

If Brian does nothing more than realize that there is a shitload of real estate between the hash marks and that we actually have TE's on the roster it will be a huge improvement over GDGD.

I'm convinced the retard Greg Davis wouldn't have utilized the TEs near as much as he did without Brian's influence. It would have been endless throws into the flats and screens to our shitty receivers. There's a ton to be hopeful about.

The calls made by KOK during the Michigan game in 2009 is what Iowa has been missing save for a couple times (the screen pass to Wadley in this year's Michigan game being an example of the exception, not the norm).

Make teams pay for selling out.

With the additional coach this year they have 2 spots open. Blazek at OL and Raih as QB/passing game coordinator. Then if they do well the next few years, Kirk retires in 2021 or 2022 and Brian becomes HC and Raih is OC. Unfortunately Raih is only here a handful of years as OC before he takes a HC job.
That would give them 7 offensive coaches and 3 defensive coaches which isn't going to happen. Firing Kennedy and having Raih be QB/WR coach and then hire another defensive guy would be ideal for me. Could also move LeVar back to a defensive coach and have Brian be OC/TE coach (which he was in NFL) and still get Blazek and Raih.
Edit: I didn't include Kelvin Bell who helps out on defense too but I'm not sure how much his responsibility is being the recruiting coordinator vs. coaching.
No. One or the other, not both. The following sentence sounds good with BF going to OC/TE and Levar jumping back to defense though.

OC/TE seems like a more manageable double for a new coordinator (and specifically one with a background as a TE coach) than either OL or QB.

don't know how much it means, but I don't think it's a bad sign that most of the former players seem happy on Twitter. assume that means Brian is at least well-liked, regardless of his dad

This also makes it harder for opponents playing Iowa next year. So many this year almost laughed about how easy Iowa was to prepare for.

Greg's (and Kirk's) lack of understanding of effective constraint plays and the need for them bordered on amazing.

Pls fix Brian.

I think it is a little more than just him being well-liked, especially with guys like Greenway and Angerer chiming in. To me, those guys being as enthusiastic as they are says that they feel he will be really good in that position.

I think Brian will have a little more scratch where it itches mentality than people are thinking. Little bit more uptempo.

Anecdotal, but my observation has been that KF is among the most well-liked/respected by his former players as you'll see...

right, but it's hard to assign value to Chad Greenway's analytical position. we can at least, generally, infer that it doesn't seem like guys widely take issue with the nepotism side of things.

I didn't phrase that very well - I mean it seems like former players like Brian on his own merits, not just because they like his dad.

it also seems like former players are very happy for Kirk and Greg to be over, like when you're happy for a friend who gets out of a toxic relationship

David Raih is a good-looking dude. I assume he would be infinitely better of a recruiter than Greg or Bobby Kennedy just by arousing mothers on in-home visits

Maybe he's arousing the fathers, you ignorant fuck.
I'm assuming that most couples with a man and woman are both straight, but you're right, I should evolve.

either way, Bobby and Greg weren't making any panties or boxers wet. David Raih could.

A pearl of wisdom from TOS. :rolleyes-70:

Don't see how the BF hire helps this issue when the playbook has always been pretty much the exact same Belichick/KF/KOK/Davis playbook and this is 90% of who BF has studied under.
This guy has clearly never watched an Iowa game with a BAC under .20

I was thinking about this the other day....I feel like we ran uptempo quite a bit in 2015.....but almost never this year.

I have no idea how accurate that is though

I think they did it more in 2014 when the offense got stagnant. Don't think it would have mattered in 2016.

What'd he say? Not a chance I'm wasting my time listening to a Jon Miller podcast.

They've done it sporadically but the first time it doesn't work Kirk tends to panic about it stressing the defense too much and junk it
