I'm guessing nobody from Maryland was listening to the Iowa radio broadcast.

I think you might be confused about the reaction and why. People aren't saying there isn't something wrong with using the King Kong term, it is the way that Iowa chooses to deal with these things in a way so stupid when it doesn't have to be done this way.
