This news is completely irrelevant. He barely played.
He played, and that was an issue. They now have a scholarship available. This news is completely irrelevant. He barely played.
Thank you @Nobody. These are pretty valuable insights.Well, that's one of the names I was told during the season. There was one other, but his comments have indicated he's probably not leaving (though they obviously might have some unexpected departures to deal with). The other thing I heard along with those names is that the staff had put together a list of Juco & grad transfer prospects to target, so here. we. go!
Well, the problem was the scholarship he was receiving. If this team is going to make the jump they need to make to keep Fran off the hot seat, just sitting him on the bench wouldn't be enough IMO.I also want to clear up the fact that our problem wasn't with Brady, it was with Fran playing him.
Just in case Brady is reading this.

I saw in the paper Sunday that HartysCan't wait for Farty or some hack to write about how this hurts our guard depth
It isn’t that Brady is bad, it is that he is a senior with limited potential. The roster imbalance is also a problem, so the only way to get a good player in a position of need is for someone (preferably with limited upside) to leave.I also want to clear up the fact that our problem wasn't with Brady, it was with Fran playing him.

No, but it was larger than just "Fran playing him". In years past it would be OK to have a scholarship guy ride the pine, but that's not the case next year because they need help. That's still not on Brady.Well, the problem was the scholarship he was receiving. I'm less pumped about opening up a scholarship than I am about not tossing Brady out there. No, but it was larger than just "Fran playing him". Unless there is a speedy PG who can play D or Fran can find a true slasher to take minutes at the 2, you're damn right you want that scholly banked. Last thing Fran needs is yet another player to muck up the rotation. He theoretically has 14 worthy D1 scholarship players since Connor is walking on. Brady averaged 11 minutes a game. If Fran is content to go with another deep rotation next year, let's just add those 11 minutes to the pool and not replace with someone elses (unless Cook or another player leaves).I'm less pumped about opening up a scholarship than I am about not tossing Brady out there. No, but it was larger than just "Fran playing him". Agree with this, if they can't get a guard or wing, then bank that fucker.Unless there is a speedy PG who can play D or Fran can find a true slasher to take minutes at the 2, you're damn right you want that scholly banked. I don't think they should look to add another player at this point unless another scholarship player leaves.Agree with this, if they can't get a guard or wing, then bank that fucker.Unless there is a speedy PG who can play D or Fran can find a true slasher to take minutes at the 2, you're damn right you want that scholly banked. It is nice what simply adding Connor back in and Wieskamp should do. You go from last year bohannon having to play 39 minutes and limp around or if he had to sit you had Dailey or fucking Ellingson handling the ball with Baer at the 3 for 20+ minutes and nobody to help if Moss decided not to show up.
Now you go to 6'5'' Connor being able to handle the ball, bohannon being able to move off the ball, Moss can sit his ass on the bench if he isn't performing, Wieskamp able to slide between the 2 or 3 position and Baer can go to a 12-15 minutes per game player and in a more natural position. Nunge also doesn't have to be constantly out of position.
Last year was simply a disaster with the guard and wing position. Now you at minimum get a Top 150 and Top 40 player to help there.
I think a perimeter defender would be hard to pass up. Especially if he can handle the ball a bit. That's the one thing missing in the back court.I don't think they should look to add another player at this point unless another scholarship player leaves.Agree with this, if they can't get a guard or wing, then bank that fucker.Unless there is a speedy PG who can play D or Fran can find a true slasher to take minutes at the 2, you're damn right you want that scholly banked. I think they have to try hard to add an impact guard or wing. Dailey would be the one to sacrifice if you get one.I don't think they should look to add another player at this point unless another scholarship player leaves.Agree with this, if they can't get a guard or wing, then bank that fucker.Unless there is a speedy PG who can play D or Fran can find a true slasher to take minutes at the 2, you're damn right you want that scholly banked. ImpressiveNow that this rumor is out there it would not surprise me if they report all the transfer news immediately after they release the football two deeps.
Here's my sense on where things go. First, I'm going to guess there will be more than just Brady leaving. Second, once things settle as to who is leaving and what the needs are, you then see what the market looks like. Look at the prep, JUCO, and transfer (or grad transfer) market and ID targets. I'm certain some of that groundwork is already in place. Then assess whether there's mutual interest. Then you go from there and set up visits and such. I know some of you guys want immediate results, but it's going to take time to play out of the next month or so as we see guys go on to the open market, set up visits, and eventually make decisions.
I think it's probably safe to assume that if there are multiple openings on the roster that Connor gets one of those scholarships.

Nobody transferred last year, dipshit.I wanna say a couple guys announced on back to back days last year
Now say it in that loser, whiney voice of Kakert's.Good talk, Tom.
