**2018 Iowa Basketball Offseason Thread**

I’m not suggesting he shouldn’t workout. Due to his reluctance to discuss his plan/thoughts on coming back, most have said or speculated that he’d prefer to play in the G league or overseas as opposed to coming back to Iowa, which would give him a better opportunity/showcase for the 2019 draft than G league or Europe.

I think that is overblown at this point and they put out that article a few weeks ago where he talked about coming back and Fran has talked about it multiple times as well.

We are 8 days away from him having to decide, and every day he hasn't hired an agent indicates he is coming back.

Fran has mentioned him coming back, however Fran isn’t always realistic in his assessments.

Cook has mentioned coming back as well.

I think it's pretty clear at this point what happened. Cook got super frustrated this winter (who could blame him) and convinced himself that he was going either going to transfer or enter the NBA.

Then the dust settled and he realized that he really isn't likely to find a better situation than the '18-'19 Iowa basketball team.

Those are arguably the highest profile players that Iowa has had since 1997 with either top talent or marquee name. Reggie Evans came in with zero anything from a Juco. Pierce raped a bunch of people. Sam Oakey was on drugs and hurt. Horner and Bruner were home state white guys.

Ricky was gone after 7 months on campus. Recker was oft transferred and hurt. Smith ran out the door as fast as he could when the payments stopped.
