I was hoping we wouldn’t need Patrick this season but with all the defections/injuries he needs to be ready to produce if the Hawks are gonna make the dance. Joe T, too.

That dunk video was something else. He's going to be a nice player, but that video sucked.

TWO FOOT DUNKS ONLY PLZ
Relevant in light of White comparison.

I see more Utoff than White in the vids, which is fine. Don’t see him coming in and regularly dunking in the Big Ten out of half court sets like White did.

I think he's going to be a good player, but I also think his freshman season will be a struggle.

Pat is going to be one of the best Hawkeye players of all time.
Lol
I'm not sure what's so LOL about this. Obviously, there were great players in the 80's/90's and before, but he's the 4th highest rated recruit since 2000. He's a perfect fit for Fran's style in that he's long, mobile and can both pass and shoot it. Because of his body type, he also will most likely be here for all 4 years provided Fran is. Maybe the "all-time" was a stretch, but there have not been a lot of great players here for the past 20+ years. He can certainly be in the conversation over that period of time.

Pat is going to be great but that is one of the things that separated White. His stand still vertical was great and made those lobs effortless and made him a great rebounder.

They are totally different players though. I'm most excited about Pat's ability of the dribble which was non-existent for White outside of flopping to get calls.

Uthoff was an elite shooter. Pat is not.

Patrick will make a living at the foul line though, just like white.

The two foot vertical will continue to improve as he gets stronger. You’re comparing the JR/SR version of White to a kid who just graduated high school- not really a fair comparison.

The thing that really separates White was his 7’ wingspan, whereas Patrick’s is only around 6’6” or 6’7” IIRC.

Who will lead this year's team in dunks anyway? I mean it's gotta be Patrick or Kriener, right? Will either of them get to 20 dunks on the season?

I think Wieskamp will average about 1 per game. Patrick, if he gets the minutes, could easily lead them in dunks.

Wieskamp.
I think he's less likely, but he's one of the few in the conversation. Would make for an interesting wager/pool. I'd bet on Patrick. I assume Kriener, Wieskamp, Garza, and Nunge would be the only other possible options

If Joe picks up his aggression and drives that much and that strongly it'll be a fun year

Tyler Cook led the team with 47 dunks last year. Kriener was second with 10 and Wieskamp was third with 6.

As long as Shawnee is allowed to count practice I’ll go with 48 dunks for Pat this season.

There isn't any Iowa player that will average a dunk/game.

Yeah, yeah, the dumb Face App thing:
But he posted this version on his Instagram story last night:

So I realize the odds weren't great that he'd be able to play this year, but if he's already talking about staying for two more years....

Incoming guys:

+ Nunge:
All I've heard so far is
the coaches absolutely love Toussaint and he's better than they expected. He's still a freshman (obviously), so it could be a roller coaster at times, but it sounds very promising.
