They play for Fresno State. If you have ever browsed Tik Tok, it is likely they have popped up on your feed.I love how this is thrown out as though the average HaLo poster would know who they are.
I had no idea either, but these are the most recent posts on their Instagrams. I'm sure their following is just a bunch of high school girls who love basketball.I love how this is thrown out as though the average HaLo poster would know who they are.
You have to be really popular on those platforms. I don’t see a justifiable reason to prevent them from making money, but someone with 45k followers isn’t making 100k a year.I also think the average person would be shocked how hard it is to make money on Instagram or TickTock or YouTube even with tens of thousands of followers.
While I think you're right that most wouldn't make much, I get a kick out of old man halo who still thinks these kids would only make money schlepping commercials for the local Kia dealership.I also think the average person would be shocked how hard it is to make money on Instagram or TickTock or YouTube even with tens of thousands of followers.
They've clearly got some phat asses, but I know nothing if their basketball skillz
Aside from whatever licensing fee they get from EA for the new CFB game, a small percentage of athletes will make significant NIL money outside of their local area. Stars like Trevor Lawrence will be in national ads and those with large social media followings will make cash from sponsorships. Shoe companies will give out a bunch of free shoes deals, but probably not much cash to players who aren't stars. While I think you're right that most wouldn't make much, I get a kick out of old man halo who still thinks these kids would only make money schlepping commercials for the local Kia dealership.
People also overestimate how much money is out there for this type of stuff. Locally for Chicago pro teams, it's pretty big stars that are even in local ads, much less national. I don't know that I've ever seen like a Denzel Valentine ad.Aside from whatever licensing fee they get from EA for the new CFB game, a small percentage of athletes will make significant NIL money outside of their local area. The rest is going to be local, booster-driven stuff like Deery Ford giving Tristan Wirfs a truck and paying him to appear in an ad.

This is correct. Jon (and those like him) hear about the big money some are making as "influencers" and think that all these kids have to do is sign up, and the checks start arriving. It requires actual effort. Just having followers isn't the gig.People also overestimate how much money is out there for this type of stuff. None of that changes the fact that I'm in favor of these guys having the right to pursue it. I just think the Jon Millers of the world who think a significant number of these kids are missing out on hundreds of thousands are delusional.
It's going to be interesting to see it all play out. I suspect that in the long term quite a few athletes will pursue social media platforms that allow fans to pay them directly. If you have name recognition, there is more money to be had in the world of Twitch subscriptions, Youtube channels with Join buttons, Patreon, etc. than there is in sponsorships/ads. The next next JBo will definitely be touting all of the behind the scenes access you get to his podcast on Patreon. He won't get rich, but it's not hard to imagine him making a couple thousand a month off of it.People also overestimate how much money is out there for this type of stuff. I also think as it plays out, this will highlight how much of the value of the athletes' "name, image, and likeness" is actually derived from their affiliation with the University rather than the other way around. It's going to be interesting to see it all play out. At some point, an athlete will open an OF and there will be a big uproar about whether schools can dictate the content their athletes can put out.
All of it?I also think as it plays out, this will highlight how much of the value of the athletes' "name, image, and likeness" is actually derived from their affiliation with the University rather than the other way around.
Right. For every Luka Garza there's like 1,000 Jordan Bohannons. All of it?
How the fuck is any of this conversation related to Iowa offseason basketball? The girls in the Instagram above have a YT page - looks like they're posting a video about once a week that gets 30-40k views.
Even if they were able to monetize them, you're talking about making something like ~$100 per video. I suppose you could argue that if they were able to monetize then they'd put a lot more effort into promoting it, but again - this kind of stuff is actually really hard to make money on.
Thread titles are loose guidelines. How the fuck is any of this conversation related to Iowa offseason basketball?
I might start my own thread to cover Iowa basketballThread titles are loose guidelines.
It isn’t a precise comparison, and in theory NIL rights values could have no cap, but if you look back at any pay for play scandal, the top guys families are allegedly getting like $100k or so. And that’s for a Cam Newton (dad allegedly asked for $120k) or Brian Bowen (McD AA, $100k) type recruits.I also think as it plays out, this will highlight how much of the value of the athletes' "name, image, and likeness" is actually derived from their affiliation with the University rather than the other way around.

breaking arms > shooting bunniesI assume he is going pro in something other than sports. Some kind of henchman probably.
Pretty much. They lose almost everyone except Curbelo.I guess everyone in IL can go back to ignoring college basketball
Athletes with 50-100K followers could definitely make money on social media with sponsored posts, but we’re talking $100-300 for a small series of posts.you guys realize there are a lot of people on the internet who aren’t thirsty middle aged men, right? she has 45k insta followers which is pretty good for 19 yo who isn’t sexualized much if at all
I’m mostly just pushing back against the Halo dorks who want every woman to do porn instead of their craft.Athletes with 50-100K followers could definitely make money on social media with sponsored posts, but we’re talking $100-300 for a small series of posts.
Nothing to turn down if you are a college kid, but assuming you find 52 sponsors to cover every week of the year you’re looking at <$10-15K a year.
He should portal his ass to Iowa.Pretty much. They lose almost everyone except Curbelo.
I fuckin hate that dude. I would love to love him.He should portal his ass to Iowa.
You sound stupidI’m mostly just pushing back against the Halo dorks who want every woman to do porn instead of their craft.
I get it’s his uncle but man..not like it’s his dad. I can’t imagine following anyone to a shit program like Vandy.By all accounts it’s Iowa or Vandy for Robbins. Man he’s an enormous swing piece for next year’s team. If you add him you can legitimately be a good defensive team and as athletic as we’ve been in a long time.
Vandy has been to two Sweet Sixteens since Iowa’s last.I get it’s his uncle but man..not like it’s his dad. I can’t imagine following anyone to a shit program like Vandy.
I’m sure a pair of s16s 15-20 years ago will be the deciding factor for LiamVandy has been to two Sweet Sixteens since Iowa’s last.
They’ve also gone 12-48 in conference the last 4 years.Vandy has been to two Sweet Sixteens since Iowa’s last.
Porn certainly isn't for everyone.I’m mostly just pushing back against the Halo dorks who want every woman to do porn instead of their craft.
Probably want to make sure his uncle's hire is announced first.First trip over to Kakerts site in about a decade. The poster who apparently has a connection to Liam’s family said the decision will come by next week.
So Tom has kept his lips zipped for at least a whole week now.First trip over to Kakerts site in about a decade. The poster who apparently has a connection to Liam’s family said the decision will come by next week.
Liam will technically have two years to play. Fwiw.If they’re ‘22 recruits it won’t have any effect on Robbins.
