I would keep the 10-second rule, but I wouldn’t hate it being dropped. With the 30-second shot clock, if teams want to dick around for half of that while still being 60 feet from the basket, enjoy.

I dislike the held ball suggestion.

Five seconds closely guarded seems inconsistently applied as it is.

Letting teams decline FTs could be interesting.

You are absolutely correct it’s incredibly inconsistently called too. Plus if you’re dribbling and closely guarded for 4 seconds you can just stop dribbling and hold the ball and the count starts over.

That’s part of what makes it such an awesome rule. Does a dude from the other team decide to grab another man’s cock and point it at another opposing teammate’s eyes? Therefore missing the aim on the ball and blinding another player in the process? A lot of gamesmanship in the rule.

I don’t think it’s that simple. There’s an argument that not bringing random castoffs every year results in the whole eventually being greater than the sum of it parts. Hell, I would argue that’s exactly what happened for us the past two years.

I don’t know that it will fuck up your program because that will essentially become your program. There will be a fuckton of volatility in results for most schools doing that, but maybe they decide the occasional high is worth it. And it might be. I’m not endorsing it, but who the fuck knows anymore.
