DeBoer missed the radio interview to meet with Dannen. Wash is trying to keep him and lock him up long term.

With Washington avoiding conference purgatory by heading to he B10, DeBoer sort of struck me as the guy that would have been content being the coach there for life. Alabama is one of a very very small number of programs that would make just about any coach in the sport start to question that though

They also have expectations for recruiting which DeBoer doesn’t seem interested in fulfilling.

If DeBoer goes to Alabama the Pac 12 additions that were going to kill Iowa's chances going forward are looking less and less intimidating. Washington was in a rebuild year next anyway and they would be rebuilding the whole program (maybe Grubb would be HC i dunno). They're capable of being bad. UCLA is not very good right now. Riley's turning SC back into a juggernaut has not been as easy as people assumed.

Washington has never been a consistent powerhouse. They have moments of being in the spotlight but they aren't consistent. I see them being more of an 8-4 type program in the Big Ten with occasional 10 win seasons.

I don't get that part. Pay isn't substantially more, and you're expected to win national championships with regularity.

Washington will get worse once they start playing a Big 10 schedule

and with zero track record that Saban had, and they were getting restless after a year.

Alabama had 6 coaches with a combined 1 national championship in the 23 years between Bryant and Saban.

The next coach failing and Alabama taking a step back is more possible than many would think.

Saban’s retirement is going to wildly escalate coaching salaries. Norvell just got $10m / yr. This May cause an uptick in nationwide inflation.

With DeBoer to Bama, if Washington doesn’t promote Grubb (that’s a big jump) I have to actually, not DanPom here, believe Matt Campbell will be the next head coach at Washington.

It was somewhat well known he was a candidate when they hired DeBoer. And since then, they changed ADs…to Troy Dannen. He also would likely come with a QB.

They want Arizona's coach, Jedd Fisch...

Troy Dannen is the laziest pud alive. He would rather hire Campbell than negotiate with an agent.

Guess who doesn’t have an agent?

From his bio He's firmly committed to the letter "L" in terms of naming his kids. So "Campbell" would fit right in.

The difference between Kurt and Bama brass is that the former never had any interest whatsoever in hiring the best guy available

Only way Grubb doesn’t get that job though is if he doesn’t want it. It’s possible he doesn’t and wants to roll with DeBoer at Bama. This was illuminating…

Grubb has one year as a Power 5 OC. Him being a shoo in for a head coaching job of that magnitude is silly.

Putting Campbell on these lists should result in the death penalty.

It’s possible Brad is good for some things, and not other things.
Correct. He’s good for us because he can’t keep his fucking mouth shut. But ultimately he’s a fan who more than ever will have biased opinions. And his opinions are no more important or meaningful than the rest of our opinions

I wish this would have been done below the bowl too but they’re completely different situations. There’s no real difference if they had someone named last week vs. next week. The pace is annoying but not changing anything tangibly. Alabama’s roster gets pillaged if they don’t name a replacement quickly and there were no real internal options.

The issue is that Iowa is once again going into spring practice with shitty QBs. That position has fucked Iowa for years and it would have been nice to see them name an OC early and allow him to recruit a guy from the portal. It’s going to be hard to gain traction with a new system and improve when the snaps are all going to Bacon and Rice-a-roni.

It’s actually comical to think about. Iowa has the shittiest of shitty offenses and is basically like “yea, we don’t need a qb for spring practice”. This shit ain’t gonna be fixed over 15 practices in the fall and running it back with the same guys. I’ve been a KF defender throughout my life but this is right up there with continuing to run Petras out year after year
