If Harbaugh and possibly Day go to the NFL, might open up the flood gates.

Michigan has to decide if they want to stick to their "Michigan Man" thing or if they go after bigger names like Brian Kelly / Dan Lanning or even the K-State / Kansas coaches. Ohio State has Mike Vrabel as an option if Day goes.

There are some big names sitting on the sidelines as well that are aging, but still young enough to take another job. Urban Meyer, Bob Stoops, Chris Peterson, etc....

Brian Kelly? What would that take, 150 over 10 years?
Agreed, and I wouldn't hire him because he's a piece of shit. Michigan seems like they would be the types to just be happy they won this year and will hire the guy that filled in for Harbaugh when he was suspended. You can get him for like $5m a year and see how he does.

The Ol Ball Coach might still have some lead in the pencil. Coached the Orlando Apollos to a 7-1 record in the AAF back in 2019

Definitely going to be considered for a head coaching position, in that case.

I think this is what would happen and I don't think it's an awful idea for them.

Day hasn’t had any NFL speculation anymore that I’ve seen.
Yeah, that was just me guessing if he had anyone in the NFL desperate enough. The league gave Josh McDaniels multiple head coaching jobs, so anything can happen.

Soon:

(I would post in the actual OC thread, but I guess I crossed the "too much band nerd shit" line there, so, next closest thing.)

(Like all INSIDER shit, it's hearsay stacked on hearsay, so, you know, RATT and all that. But what the hell, I'm going with it.)

Put me down for DeBoer going to be a disaster at Alabama. He's obviously a good coach, but many a good coach has gotten eaten alive at a school like Alabama.

Now factor in he's basically going way too familiar and re-creating the Indiana football staff is a bad sign. Saban was able to make Alabama work because he played hard core CEO while hiring the most talented coaches he sometimes had zero relationship with and make it work.

DeBoer has now gone with Grubb as his OC and a guy coaching at South Alabama as the DC because they coached together at Indiana. It screams small time.

None of this even accounts for the fact that he got EXTREMELY lucky at Washington. They went 8-0 in games decided by 7 points or less this year and 12-1 in the last 2 years.

DeBoer has a horseshoe stuck up his ass the last 2 years and think he lasts maybe 2-3 years at Alabama before they shove him right out the door.

Flip side, he went 67-3 at Sioux Falls, 12-6 at Fresno including 9-3 his second year and 25-3 at Washington. 104-12 in his career.

The DC hire had P5 HC interviews a year ago and is only 37 with recruiting ties in the south. It’s highly possible that job and everything it entails eats him up though.

I think he will do well at Alabama but the question is will they expect Saban like production? I think things are set up well for year one but beyond that will be interesting. Is he the Frank Solich of Alabama?

He's got a fantastic record, but I can't ignore how many times the absolutely escaped the last 2 years. 12-1 in close games over a 2 year stretch is just unsustainable, not to mention they did get blown out in the final game. We shall see if he can keep that going in the new SEC with essentially the 2019 Indiana football staff.

The guy has an obviously high floor. They are going to win at least 9 games every year even in the new format. He is going to have to get better players to beat Georgia though.

Agree. I think he will be ok, but a disaster by Alabama’s standards. The fans have been spoiled with Saban and will run him out of town in a few years.

Defensive coordinator? Jerry Glanville?

Wasn't he the run and shoot guy?

I believe he was the Oilers coach in the Frank Reich miracle comeback game.
