So let me get this straight - he's an OC who wasn't the playcaller for his offense?

Checks the box for having some ties to Iowa . Played at Northwestern College
this article doesn’t paint a good picture of Svoboda

Says he was essentially stripped of play calling duty after being put in a competition against the other guy. Then they switched their offensive approach to align with the other guy’s vision. Svoboda is an outside zone guy and they changed to more gap blocking.

Not sure why we're discussing him at all

I put that article in the recruiting thread yesterday. It sounds like a terrible option, only made sprightly better in that it’s not Brian

It was always going to be someone doing what Kirk wants. That's not going to change.
While i do agree, part of what made Brian so terrible was his atrocious play calling. Hiring a guy who had his playcalling duties stripped and given to someone with no experience wouldn’t seem to solve much

Or maybe he learned from it and will be better and motivated.

And that’s the problem. If Kirk is unwilling to completely let go of the offense, then he’s not actually interested in making a meaningful change
Kirk believes more games are lost than won due to offense. That’s not changing, and he’s not letting go of that anymore than Iowa will abandon their 4-3 zone defense scheme. The coordinators have to function within his parameters, that’s not a ridiculous position for a coach to take.

If so, just a really weird thing to be very firmly wrong about.
It’s the turnover/anti put the ball at risk focus. Obviously no coaches like turnovers, but Kirk hates them more than most. I’m sure he’d like to score more points, but not if it puts the ball at risk.

I cant tell if you are trying to stick up for KF or not. Can you please clarify.
When you are the very worst at offense, yes it is a ridiculous position to take. You are wrong about that. The parameters need adjusted.

He’s only been the coach for 24 years, I’m sure those huge offensive changes are just around the corner. I’d suggest MUCH more likely is Iowa will get better players with more talent and execute a similar offense, better moving from dead fucking last to, like 80th and we’ll be something better than miserable.

So, not sticking up for KF?

They are allowing non coaching positions to coach during practice starting next season so Budmayer can coach during the week but not during games.

Dordt University TE transfer, and it looks like he was Isaac Teslaa's high school teammate.

19 catches last year. Doesn't seem like a lot until you realize as a team they only had 95 completions on the season.

BTW Wallace already has a number of DC offers. I think he might actually take one this time around.
