I love a slow burning Mikey meltdown. a poorly written program stuck in an endless loop of hopelessness because not every variable can be defined by an integer.

The SWARM guy says he fully expects Brian back next year. Who knows what access he has but imagine he's pretty connected and wouldn't say that if he didn't have good reason to believe it.

FYI, they are keeping him involved where needed, but also not sharing anything of the sort with him. They like Brad and everything, but they absolutely know he can't nor wants to keep anything quiet and anything they tell him or he finds out he will share within hours or minutes on the message boards.

A nice reward for Brian after recruiting all these new offensive weapons

Kirk can’t run an offense but for 23 years he can run a solid canary trap.

Yeah that guy gossips about everything. I wouldn’t tell him anything.

Does TCU being in the natty give you hope Iowa could make a semi-similar run someday if everything came together or do you not even consider that much hope since Iowa isn’t in the South?

Yes.

(I haven't not had hope since 2009; I will forever and always die on the hill of "if Stanzi doesn't get hurt against NW Iowa would have beaten Bama in Pasadena.")

Yeah he checked every box for receiving continued hate.

1. Always had the Alabama optiopn (as opposed to a late dream offer)
2. Did it the very last week before signing day.
3. Went out of way to make both horrific and offensive shit talking excuses for why he did it.

I agree...fuck them - but you lost out to a superior team- Prestige-wise and its not like he isn't on track to be a pro talent. Trying to pretend he made a mistake is not the best look here, imo.

Just gives him a reason mentally to think it was OK to screw them over the way he did.

They’re not pretending ‘he made a massive mistake.’

Undefeated Texas would have still been playing Bama in Pasadena.

Wrong. Iowa had the SOS above Texas that year, unlike the hypothetical 2002-but-without-shitting-the-bed-against-State team.

Texas played one more game than Iowa and hard to imagine the polls would have had Iowa over Texas. The Coaches and Harris polls were 2/3rds of the formula.

Iowa was arguably the best team in America just once in my lifetime, and that was only from October through mid November in 2002. That team could’ve competed with SC, OSU or Miami. (Now, it is true they didn’t compete with SC, but never mind that.)

unfortunately Kirk and by extension Garta care deeply
Meanwhile, WRs in the portal look elsewhere rather than run the risk of being tethered to a system of WR neglect as led by Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz.

The hard part to me is that at this moment, it seems that it’s been clearly communicated to recruits and possible transfers that “change is coming.” On the other hand, every single person close to the program is getting the impression that Brian leaves, IF he gets an NFL job, and that if he doesn’t, there’s at least SOME chance he’s back as Iowa’s OC next year.

So in other words “change is coming. Unless it doesn’t.”

No Dad. I don’t deserve it. That’s nepotism.

Not many people have ever said that and meant it.

Sure. Change is coming. The degree of change is uncertain.

Change could be as small as one new offensive assistant, or as big as a new OC with a modified scheme. Either would qualify as change.

The lack of specificity on this sure makes it seem like a) it won't be a new OC or b) the new OC only happens if Brian can find a job elsewhere.

If you were a WR recruit who had options with other P5 schools, would you attend Iowa prior to a new OC being named?

Change. They’re going to triple down and concentrate even harder on cleaning up the details of the totally great plays and scheme they already have.
