I once witnessed Randi’s brother nearly burn down a rental house because he couldn’t find my friends jar of peanut butter and instead decided to steal his frozen pizza.

My buddy had hidden the peanut butter in the oven.

Already stated when Greenway's daughter was offered. But...

Looks like Greenway and Peterson played together last year for Providence Academy, but Peterson is transferring to Minnetonka this year as a freshman. Also Peterson played for All Iowa Attack.

Damn. I really thought with Clark gone some of the ticket demand would drop off. Figured they'd still get great attendance but didn't expect it to sell out season tickets.

I figured they'd stay around 10-11k, but didn't think they had a chance to sell out again.

They all want to be there for the special events, like Caitlin Clark jersey retirement night, Caitlin Clark scoring record recognition night, the one year anniversary of the 2024 Final Four team, or Lisa Bluder's retirement ceremony featuring special guest Caitlin Clark, or Angel Reece wasn't classy and we'll never stop talking about it night, with a guest appearance by Caitlin Clark.

And because women's sports are booming in popularity

You got a specific date for that one?

Wait, I'm not asking you out. I mean, like an actual calendar date.

You just never know around this place.

This is going to be...I can't even describe it.

A whole lot of people hoping lightning will strike twice.

I can't predict the future, but it doesnt take Miss Cleo to consider a possibility of thousands of Iowans with nothing better to do wishing they had found something better to do

Caitlin freed millions of girls from the shackles of the kitchen. They triumphantly threw down their aprons and experienced the glory of women’s basketball for the first time.

They win and have slowly built something. I know you troll to troll this thread but I don’t think that’s the case with why ticket sales are what they are.

I think there's a lot of people thinking they're gonna be the next uconn women, when they're probably going to end up being the 2010 butler men.

Not sure about that, they do seem to be recruiting pretty well. They obviously are not going to make the Final 4 this year, but the transfer PG should keep them highly competitive until the youngins start making noise.

That's the point though. "Recruiting pretty well" by Iowa sports standards. Recruiting nowhere near the level of the teams that actually dominate women's basketball. People talk about the lack of parity in college football - women's basketball is absurdly dominated by a few good teams.

I've just read a couple articles and definitely not going to do extensive research on this, but saying they are currently recruiting at a top level doesn't seem like a stretch. I think they are going to end up with (or may already have?) two top 15 recruits for 2025.

They have 4 top 100 in this years freshman class and have a 5-star and a 4-star committed for next year.

All he said was to be “highly competitive”. I think that has been achieved.

You'd have to be an idiot to think Iowa is the next UConn, but it's not wrong to hope that Iowa is able to use the last 3 years to elevate its recruiting.
That's the context I was replying to. Iowa is recruiting 'better'. UConn probably signs two top 10 kids a year every year.

Correct. UConn and South Carolina essentially choose who they want.

Yeah, Hawks have Lucy Olsen coming in this fall. And, Levin from Solon will add a local connection again.
Then I believe, as mentioned, we have some nice recruits coming in next year. So, I could see those fans wanting to ride this out and see what materializes. I think these fans at the women's games are a different subset of Iowa fan mostly. I think many of them are new fans, or primarily just fans of Iowa women's basketball. So, I don't think it's really pulling many fans away from other Iowa sports.

I think they should be very competitive this year. They’ll struggle going up against legitimate centers but what the fuck do I know.

We had season tickets to WBB for a couple years when my kids were younger and still at home. They weren't very expensive. So if you enjoy WBB why not? They've got some decent returning players and recruiting has looked pretty decent. I'll be curious to see how things go with the changing of coaches.
