The sensationalist headline and sub-headline aside, McCollum has had enough (didn't see these quotes elsewhere).

“Disappointed in our start,” McCollum said. “Happy with the comeback, but not overly, you need to win these, and it's time to win this kind of game. We've proved that we can, but we haven't proved that we actually will, and it's time to do that. And you got a great opportunity next game…People probably still think I'm crazy, but I see it, like, it's coming, like we're getting there.”

A media member would ask McCollum about Cooper Koch, who finished with 10 points, and how, during a timeout, he was on him for a defensive lapse. Specifically, McCollum was asked if there is a balance of telling a player what he needs to do during the game without killing his confidence, saying, “I don't really care about that.”

“If he's got confidence issues, he shouldn't be playing in the Big 10,” McCollum said, according to Fox College Hoops. “So I mean, freshmen, you do a little bit. He's a red shirt freshman, but he went under a handoff on [Keaton] Wagler, and it's just you can't do that. You just can't, like we're getting stops and can't go under that.”

For some reason I think we will keep this close but still lose

I think McCollum can coach; it will come down to if he can upgrade his roster. It's not the Xs and Os, it's the Jimmies and Joes.
He most definitely can coach. I’m not a huge fan of the ball screen stuff they are running but it works for him.

I 100% agree the roster needs to continually be upgraded. I said that at the beginning of the year and was told that we should expect NCAA tournament in this era of roster development.

the money we spent should get you in the tourney with a great coach in the I am a giant douche- which i think McCollum is.

the problem is that we have some big investments underperforming right now in Hausen and Folgers. Stirtz is outperforming his salary but underperforming his potential.

It's early and they were clearly all sick the last week. The positive is that the yearly flu that most teams get hit with ripped through them early in the season and they should be healthy going forward.

Hausen came in not healthy and it was fine to not play him early on, but McCollum needs to start playing him and live with a little bit of the defensive downside to get the stretch the floor benefit and open up the offense and give the top scorers some help.

Iowa is 12-4 with losses on the road to a Top 15 and a Top 5 team, and a Top 6 team at home. The only remotely questionable loss is on the road at Minnesota where pretty much every team is now struggling to win. They nearly got Wisconsin last night as well.

Long long way to go this season.

I think they come up short tonight, but then get on a hot streak.

The Hausen situation isn't so mysterious when you see teams immediately attack him when he comes in the game.

not clear to me that Hausen is a huge downgrade from Stirtz in terms of what he brings. Stirtz is better in every facet. But not by as much as we were led to believe, other than in dunking.

i would love to see hausen at 10-12 minutes per game. Coming at the expense of mostly Bennet.

No. Hausen should play more but with Stirtz as he will open up the floor for Stirtz.

Two completely different types of players. This isn't a Hausen vs Stirtz discussion, it's a discussion of whether more minutes for Hausen would benefit the offense by spreading the court and taking pressure off Stirtz.

Bennett is shooting 40% from 3 and that is with some tough shots he has to take at the end of the clock. Hausen isn't playing because Isaiah Howard and Tate sage are both out playing him.

I like the mix now and don't want to fuck with it. Playing basketball with a cold is awful. Let's see how we look in a week.

It really sucks that Iowa's two most talented players are the two biggest pussies on the team

Still #20 in Kenpom after the 3 game losing streak. Nice little 7 game stretch here of winnable games. 5-2 would put them in a good position down the stretch.

Other than the Minnesota loss (which was just shitty), the losses are to #3, 4, 5 and 12, with three of those being on the road, and only one that wasn't competitive. It has been frustrating the last week or so, but I don't think anyone would've been disappointed with being right where they are at the start of the season.

Hawks about to finally be healthy and have a nice schedule coming up. Going to win the next 7 and set up a massive game at home against Purdue. Things about to start clicking.
