Does KenPom use the same formula as before to start the year? It's got to be nearly impossible to rank anyone given how much turnover there is. Iowa happens to be a perfect example, 99% of the players and staff are new.

Well, he has Iowa last in the country in tempo, so I think he adjusted for the coaching change.

But yes, preseason is going to be less reliable the more turnover you have. He does load in the new players. I think he’s said in the past that the last week of January is when the preseason biases are completely phased out of the system and it’s fully current year data being used

SLU starting 5 Green. Jones, Thames, Otieno, Avila. Played the entire first period. We are as tall as Iowa, but 15-20 pounds lighter at each position.

Thames was our best player in the first period. Score not displayed, but SLU had difficulty getting open looks and likely outscored.
Point guard for Iowa, 1 of 6 transfers from Drake, senior named Stirtz. Coach Schertz said before the scrimmage that Stirtz will be an NBA player. Best player on the court.

Second period, 5 different players. McCottry, Warlick, Sharma, Anya, Dunlap. Again, difficulty getting open looks and likely outscored. Iowa for keep most of their starters in the game.

Third period, SLU much more competitive especially Jones. Better flow on offense, better defense as well. Continued into the fourth period. Kerr got his minutes, was effective on offense.

Our 3 point shooting much better in the second half. Iowa kept most of their starters out in the second half.

SLU apparently won by 24 points.
