I love my bald pessimistic hermano, but I’m legitimately excited about McCollum and this year’s team. I think they are going to be a tremendous pain in the ass to play and be a slightly better than bubble team with a style and backcourt that can actually be competitive in tourney games.

The fear would be that he’s too close to comfort to Lick, but I think he’s got a lot more personality, energy and testosterone (as does his scrappy undersized rostered son). I don’t think he’ll be an elite recruiter, but I think there’s a chance he lands top half of the conference talent, including the type of guards Fran couldn’t.

To be fully honest, that "3 loss" Drake roster played a MVC schedule ranked as #127th hardest schedule last year vs. Iowa's that ranked as the #37th SOS.

Stirtz is the best Iowa PG since Dean Oliver, and Gronowski has been solid.
