Add a legit center and a PG and this team will be damn good next season. This team really only had Stirtz and Koch as shooters most the year and Koch was pretty mediocre the first 3/4. Him and Sage stepping up will be huge for next year. Add Thompson and Harris and whoever the transfers end up being and the offense could really start humming. Combs and Howard had their moments and I’m glad they’re on the team, but they still aren’t exactly “shooters” that worry the opponent’s defense.

I think the offense will be really good when there are more than 1-2 legit shooters to have to deal with. All those open looks that got passed up this year won’t necessarily need to be passed up in the future when the guy in that situation can light it up.

About as great a season as you could ask for in McCollum’s first year. There were plenty of bumps along the way but the tournament really showcased his coaching ability and game planning. What a ride.

Anyone using this to dunk on Fran is a retard, but by the same token one really can’t argue that he didn’t coach defense or that his two elder sons don’t suck ass. Iowa basketball is in the best spot it’s been in 30 years and I have faith this year will be leveraged into better recruiting. Elite 8s don’t grow on trees so who knows when this will happen next, but I think we struck gold with this coach and look forward to many fun seasons.

Coon’s percentage isn’t great on paper but I think that can be improved. Shot looks good.i
