In a total shocker, the Final Four appears that it will be UConn, UCLA, Texas and South Carolina.
Rough count there have been 6 lower seeds to win in the women’s bracket. A 9 over an 8. A 5 over a 4. A 3 over a 2. Virginia over Iowa. And Notre Dame winning 2 games as a lower seed (they were a 6).

So if you just picked chalk you would be 58 of 64 in your bracket to this point.

I win my bracket every year by doing exactly this

Did I miss portal news on Rodriguez? Wonder what’s going on there.

I would guess that Audi is not very popular with her teammates, getting all the attention and accolades while often being low to zero effort on defense.

Iowa State women is almost like you told a bunch of girls who all came up as the star of their hometown that the gimmick would pay off and then the gimmick did not pay off.

Also, I was in Ames this weekend and the topic of Iowa State Women's Basketball came up. My dad said something about Audi wanting to stay to get all the Fareway money. I said "well, she knows about food"; at which point my niece gave me a lecture on body-shaming.

Did you tell her you don't listen to fat chicks?

Deal just wasn't as good as I hoped she'd be. Had an amazing opportunity to step in for McCabe and she couldn't do it.
Too many turnovers, ball handling was just ok, and a lot of shots that were way off the mark.
Be interesting to see how good she ends up being somewhere else I guess.

Bummed but yeah she was a disappointment also apparently she’s old for her class - more like a Sophomore in age. Not sure how high her ceiling is.

In any event I would like to see IA target more Midwest gals in the 20-50 range as recruits.

I don’t know if the age thing is this important for girls as it is for boys. Girls physical development is pretty much done by the end of high school. She still could have developed her skills and feel for the game though. She was greatly lacking in that area.

Kind of curious how that conversation went though. Her parents seemed all in on iowa and even moved here. She was basically guaranteed to start next year.

Well, if she’s not going to start next year, that starter is not currently on the roster.

The women's basketball team was a nice distraction during the shitty end of Fran era, but now that is done and we are on to bigger and better things not really as impactful.

I'm guessing they will be more than fine, pick up players in the portal and keep developing others.

I thought Deal was going to be pretty good, but outside of a few game stretch, she didn't show any signs of being special. It's also hard to come to Iowa from California.

Most recruits of her caliber get multi year NIL deals. It seems to me like she’s taking a huge gamble, but who knows

I'm guessing she can go to any number of west coast schools and get some money, but who fucking cares.

Reading some comments online, this seems true.

Iowa State might benefit by slimming their roster down even more.

It’s a bummer she’s leaving…who knows how good she could be if she had stayed. But it’s not really a surprise….my insider! sources say her dad is on the Brian Joens spectrum of parents, so I imagine he’s been in her ear about things, much like Guyton’s dad last year.

I don't doubt she would have improved but I highly doubt she was headed for stardom either. Hawks will be fine.

These kinds of parents are the absolute worst. Something is deeply broken in them.
