Curious how Iowa handles Crooks this week. Last year she got her 31 points/10 boards on 14/22 from the floor, and Addy Brown was efficient but in foul trouble, and they locked down the rest of the Cyclones. Plus ISU couldn't guard Lucy Olsen down the stretch and Iowa pulled away at the end.

2 years ago, Crooks got her 15 and 10, but couldn't keep up with the pace and only played 25 minutes in a close game that Iowa also pulled away at the end. Addy Brown also had an excellent game with 14/12/5, but no one else did much of anything.

Be curious to see if the Hawks use the same stratagy of letting/assuming Crooks and Brown will get theirs, but locking down the rest of the lineup. I do think that Williams at PG for ISU this year is a much different player than ISU's third option the last two years, and will cause some issues. I also think that Crooks has upped her game, and Brown still might be the best player on the team.

I feel a lot better about ISU after they beat Indiana and Marquette last week becuase they started the season with an awful strength of schedule. But still don't trust how they'll do against a top team like Iowa until I see them do it.

If Crooks is assigned to guard Heiden it may make Crooks tired quick. I just think Heiden (and pretty much every other D1 athlete) is much more athletic and in shape. Of course, Heiden may get called for quick fouls when Crooks turns around into her a bunch.

Crooks always reminds me of Ron Dayne getting oxygen at half time as he rode off in a cart - which was just what they did with him every game. Very, very effective in a college game, just maybe not what I would call an "athlete".

I have a hunch Iowa will show their collective youth and inexperience in this one...only 2 of the current players receiving minutes have played at Hilton so haven't experienced an atmosphere like that. And unless Rodriguez and Mallegni are ready to go, they'll be playing with a short bench again.

The game was at CHA last year and Heiden, Stremlow, and McCabe didn't have big roles....Wright, Rodriguez, Deal, Hays, Houston weren't on the team. I just have a feeling that the youngsters might get rattled in their first big rivalry game in a hostile environment. I could also be wrong....I hope I'm wrong.
