It's the type of lights and when they were installed. All of them are Musco Lighting, but the lights at Kinnick are likely still their Light Structure Green 1500 watt metal halide bulb. Those are, for lack of a better term, old school lights that need time to ramp up to full lumen and if you shut them off it takes all that time to ramp up again to full light.

The places you see with the lights flickering are all newer Musco LED installations done in the last few years or retrofitted with the LED lights and software required to put on that sort of light show. LED lights can be turned on and off instantly and don't lose any lumens. They are also way more energy efficient.

If you look at carver, pretty sure that carver has the new lights. They can turn them off and back on again without having to warm them up. They're flat instead of round (unlike halo rekt)

Yep, those are the LED lights.

Maybe some of both. They could probably show more, but I don't know what their software allows. But everyone also has a cell phone, so if there's something particular you want to see, faster and easier to find it yourself.
I haven't had cell service in Iowa City in decades. I'm assuming Wiggy has the same problem as me that our carriers from out of state aren't supported very well in IC.

And I'm not cool enough to get PM'd the WIFI password!!!! You aholes.

As in Verizon or Tmobile or whatever don't have coverage? Are they all using something else?

Maybe, just my guess. I’m on Xfinity mobile. Seems to bog down pretty quick on game days.

Interesting. I have heard of Xfinity Mobile customers getting "deprioritized" by Verizon when the network is really congested which has prevented me from moving to Xfinity or US Mobile in the past. Could just be slow for everyone though.

During my 25 years as a season ticket holder, I've had Us Cellular (pre-smart phone era), Verizon, and T-Mobile. They all fucking suck on game days. Switching off 5g helps a little but most of the time it teeters on unusable

Had USCellular before this year, since switched to T-Mobile. I can usually get service, but it is hit and miss in stretches.

I didn't know switching that off was an option, I will Google that.

It has gotten better so calls and texts don't have issues any longer but typically around noon to 1pm anything requiring data (like downloading tickets) has zero reliability

I’ve got AT&T and lose everything once I leave the concourse for my seats.

Put your phones away and watch the game you paid to attend. Live in the moment, faggots.
Tell that to the guys that are at Iowa games who spend it all in chat!!!!

John Deere gets the 25 yard line. Case IH gets the red zone.

I thought it was weird that they announced they were moving the name. If you move it and don't say anything, no one thinks anything of it.

There's still some bouts of ugliness at times, but we are far more watchable now that we have been any time this decade.

Remember that Nebrantska game last year. Other than a couple plays that was 4 quarters of green diarrhea

Very true. But a look at some of the efficiency numbers is interesting; much improved from recent years

Anyone been to a game at the Coliseum? I'm wondering if there's a row you want to stay above. I'm looking at tix in Row 10, mid field. Too low? @YugoslavianMountainHound

It’s not for during the game. It’s when there’s 3:50 tv timeout, kickoff, 3:50 tv timeout.

Is this still likely to kick off around 1? There are some cheap single seats and it would be like 16 hours round trip door to door. Pretty tempting.
