Wrestling has their own NIL deal. Iowa State real NIL for hoops is on its own. LOL that anyone would go through Blum. Blum is 10x worse than Brad. There are plenty of other options beside Swarm. It’s a solid setup for what it does though, and I have no doubt Brad wants the best for Iowa and actually puts a ton of time into it.

This is my guess too. I mean he is no doubt putting in serious effort by by his own admission he isn't a "sales" guy (obviously he's an actuary) and to date, the Swarm only has about 3k members. Beth probably sees this and realize while Brad is a nice guy, he may not be very useful to her at this point. She knows who the big donors are and can connect directly with them.
Correct. It’s standing that he volunteered so much time to get it going when Barta has no idea what to do. But it’s time to start paying people that can actually figure out how to bring in major money.

The whole "I don't know if he can recruit well enough at Iowa" thing is retarded when they're beating a team with $5 million payroll w/a bunch of players from Simpson.

He'll get better players than he has now. And he'll coach the fuck out of them. We'll play defense. We'll rebound. We'll play to our strengths, whatever they may be. We'll exploit our opponent's weaknesses. We'll do it with whites. We'll do it with blacks. Mostly with whites.

Fuck yeah

Brad resonates with the Kakert site people more than he does the average fan. People that think this is a way to raise money:

Here’s mine: Coop and CC are always trash talking who would win 1-on-1 on the basketball court. Find a time they both can be in IC and have them play a game of HORSE. Call it The Showdown or something silly and get them really trash talking on social media which they already kind of do anyway. Charge $22 to get in. In between shots you could have them talk about leadership and other things. Give 1/3 to each of them for their individual charities and the Swarm gets the rest.

They need someone that doesn’t associate with these people.
That thread is an absolute all timer. The fundraising “ideas“ are priceless.

Does it? Do they? My impression is NIL is the wild fucking west and though Brad props up swarm as some sort of 'official' thing, its not.

Not an issue ive studied but explain the authority that mandates all NIL flows through "Brad".
Right. Nothings stopping Beth from having donors on call for the bball programs when it’s time. They can write the check to whoever they want. There are no rules.

As long as all of our players are able to get new drivers, we'll be fine.

Nothing says college basketball like kids raised at a country club.
I was thinking about Peyton's comment and how weird that some of these kids will be making 500k plus and not make the pros. Then they will go out and have get some entry level cubicle job or some rent a car place making like 60k to start. Talk about a lifestyle adjustment!

At least one of Drake’s players can barely dribble. But those midgets can rebound and play defense.

Have always wanted him over Devries. He can coach the absolute fuck out of a game.

I feel if McCollum cares about his players- they deserve to have him bring them to Iowa City.

I’m fine with keeping the search private since Brad can’t keep his mouth shut. But money for NIL has to come in through Swarm. They have to work together and love or hate Brad it’s not a good sign that he’s commenting about wanting to help but not being welcome. It’s a major red flag in multiple ways
I don’t think you quite understand how this actually works.

Stirtz is a stud
From what I hear, about the only risk to McC not ending up in Iowa City is a Blue Blood program getting involved and throwing an offer at him he can’t say no to.

For that reason, Stirtz is sort of pissing me off right now. He can chill and save some of these for next year when he’s in black and gold

The issue is that his connection to Kirk and the fact that he basically owns the legal and accounting structure makes him somewhat difficult to remove….the flip side is that he pisses off everyone that deals with him. That is the conundrum Iowa is in

I don’t think WVU is out yet.

Are there any blue blood jobs even open?

Isn't Nova about it? Texas but they'll have their sights set higher.

I want to be careful though. Brad IS incredibly smart, and has done things for which Iowa fans should be incredibly grateful for. The issue is that the Kirk connection has kept him involved in parts of the process that aren’t his strengths.

But he’s also a bit of a rule follower which makes him somewhat ill suited at times for the current NIL era.

Actuaries are usually pretty smart in certain realms. Recognizing that doesn’t mean all realms is a challenge.

No, but that changes on a dime. And I don’t think WV is going to go quietly in this fight either. Just as we’ve seen with certain recruits, things can change very very quickly in college sports these days

Texas but I don’t see that. There’s a slim possibility of Kansas and that’s supposedly his actual dream job. Think he’d need to prove more though.
I could see Kansas or Texas going after someone like Sean Miller.

Odom from VCU will be taking Virginia.
WVU is the concern. Their A.D. is a motherfucker.
Oh no doubt. Doesn't help us that their AD was AD for a while at Northwest when Ben was there. That and they have an extra 6M from the DeVries buyout now too.

McCollum is going to have Hawk fans all fired up. Hopefully this doesn't turn into the most epic fail of all time by Iowa by not getting him.

It’s very likely that McCollum and Calhoun end up at Iowa and WVU, just depends where. We apparently interviewed Calhoun a 2nd time. WVU is going to hit one of them most likely.

So much this. Let Brad continue to do the bean counting behind the scenes, or thank him for his services and put somebody else in that position full-time. Convince one of the bigger donors with charisma and spare time on their hands to handle the in-person fundraising. If there's room in the budget for a professional marketing/sales type person, hire one. That person will create new fundraising events, organize corporate sponsorships, schedule athlete appearances, design swag, etc.

The rules have changed and if you're not taking advantage of the new landscape and opportunities you won't keep up. Today's athletes don't only want to get paid, they now expect to get paid. You can hate the new culture as much as you want, but if you don't get with the new program...your program is getting left behind.

NIL organizations need to be run in a professional manner and they need to work cohesively with the Athletic Department. The local yokel model is only going to hinder your beloved program in the long-run.

Maybe y’all should tap the brakes. These things tend to not go how we expect. I’d hate to see you disappointed
