But doesn’t Iowa also have an extra $6M because they didn’t have to pay that same buyout to WVU for DeVries? I assume Drake doesn’t have a buyout.
I assume every contract has a buyout. Isn’t that standard once you get to the D1 level?

I have a bad feeling that Tallperson may end up getting banned. As someone said above, he is going to have his pick of jobs either this year or next at the latest, and I don't feel confident in Iowa being in a strong enough position for his services.

Also the win should help with any key donors on the fence. That was a masterclass in coaching if they watched the game. I could see people getting fired back up for McCollum even after the DeVries disappointment.
I certainly found the not playing like tremendous pussies bit to be quite refreshing. Hopefully some people with gobs of money did too.

If Iowa somehow lands McCollum, there needs to be a stipulation in his contract that his kid, who was first team all state this year, needs to go play somewhere else.

No more nepotism!

If that prevents him from coming, his kid can fucking start because McCollum is a gotdamn wizard.

this has been my concern for some time. He’s a very involved parent but that’s probably because he’s on the spectrum as it relates to hoops.

his kid is a D2 player. He was the 4th best player on his team but he just got a lot of stuff run for him.

Just looked up Macs bio and damn I feel old. He's the same age as one of my nephews and was born the same year as my freshman year at Iowa.

And somehow neither of the 6’7 kids from NW got one of them over McCollum’s kid.
Probably because he shopped around for the best situation before buying a house.

they also have a sophomore who has no business dressing varsity.

Really appreciate all the "gee guys, I dunno if this is gonna work out" takes. Shit falling through for Iowa had been a heretofore unheard of concept around here but thank fuck all these realists are weighing in to set everyone straight
This board has spent the last several years bitching about soft white kids from Waukee and nepotism.

*D3

After all of the work his dad did interviewing coaches to find the best "program" to move in to, I expected him to be better.

He’s a good high school player. Nothing wrong with that. It’s the difference in talent and his parents ability to assess that talent that makes me nervous.
