Ask him if he has any rivals from back in the day that he hated

I’m glad to see you came off your stance that Stirtz shouldn’t be a high major player.
He's good. Banks is good. Manyawu is good, but from what I've watched, I don't know if he translates to the Big 10.

I really didn't think being lukewarm about adding a mid-major guard averaging 3.8 pts, 2 rebounds and nearly an assist a game, was so controversial.

skepticism about how five Valley players will handle the Big Ten together is entirely warranted.

they know the system and the coach and will be the cultural foundation. McCollum will add some more mid-major transfer guys. the one thing he has never shown is the ability to land high major talent. here's his chance.

He’s not landing high majors in D2 or Drake. Even this year isn’t much of a chance.
Exactly. its one thing to sell a kid to come to NWMSU. Another to get a kid to come to Iowa. In the last 50 years of watching college basketball, I've seen more than a few X and O genius guys who couldn't land the talent. In the long run they don't do as well as the guys who can land the talent but aren't sharp with the system. McCollum at Indiana would be a different deal -- the legacy almost sells itself. We'll see about McCollum at Iowa.

It's the jimmys and joes....

Apparently he helped coach this kid for Team USA last summer so there’s some history. Probably still fighting uphill but it’s a good sign that he scheduled a visit on the first day after the dead period.
Most thought Texas would be the biggest competition but doesn’t sound like they’re going to push hard for him. Might be Iowa or VCU.

Still a lot of schools that will jump in when they see Ben going after someone.

Sure if they're not adding anyone else, but have half of their scholarships available

Jim from Three Man Weave:

A final note: there’s always been chatter about Ben McCollum being kind of a weird guy or whatever, but when your entire team follows you for a second offseason in a row, I have a hard time questioning the guy (in addition to all of the on court success). Stirtz, Manyawu, Banks could have gone a LOT of places, Howard is no slouch (high on him long term). And then Combs too

If he can hang on to that hairline, then I’ve got at least a decade more with mine. #blessed

Based off of what I had heard others say about him I expected him to be weird and awkward. It’s been the opposite. He comes across really well. Better than Devries, honestly

No, I guess maybe he did, but it was a thing outside of Halo. Even all the basketball savant stuff is implying something.

He seems pretty personable and normal.

If a new coach wants to bring in his guys to smooth the transition and help instill his culture, I’m good with it. I’m excited to see something new, whatever it’s going to look like.
yes indeed, Drake this year looked a hell of allot better than the team that just left Iowa, simply put they made the tournament and beat a six seed quite handily and gave Texas Tech, in my opinion had the horses to make a run to the final 4. Let the new era begin, ahhh......

Trilly saying he’s hearing Luke Barnwell from Texas Tech as a possible assistant at Iowa. Previously was head coach at Sunrise Christian and coached MoKan Elite AAU.
Jeff Linder, also a Texas Tech assistant, is a name Kakert mentioned awhile ago.

It’s likely to be Tobin Anderson and Luke Barnwell. The assumption of Linder was the Texas Tech connection. They had the right school but wrong coach.

Jesse Shaw who they hired but haven’t announced as an assistant (he also has Iowa assistant on his X profile) is likely a player development guy/recruiter rather than full time assistant.

Not sure I understand the Texas Tech coaches. Wouldn’t that mean McCasland is fine with letting them go? I doubt he just gives Ben one of his coaches out of the goodness of his heart even if they are BFFs.
