23 years old with two more years to play, is he old as fuck because of a Mormon mission or some COVID bullshit?

Didn’t put up overly impressive stats playing conference games against Tarleton State and California Baptist. What indicates he’ll do better playing conference games vs Michigan and Illinois?

Does anyone expect him to average 13 and 4?

I'm sure you'll know better than McCollum.
I would never contend to even know 1/1000 of what the new coach knows about basketball. My concern isn’t that he is unaware of this player’s ability.

He’s not being asked to be a difference maker. Supposedly we’re after him for depth and not offering a ton. Watch the video, there’s some athleticism and skill there.

Only game I watched of Utah Valley but he looked like the best player on the court against GCU in their conference tourney championship. He is 6’5, athletic and a decent shooter. If that is a guy McCollum wants for a bench role, that’s a really good add.

For the record, I’m rarely concerned that college coaches can’t identify good players. I’m concerned if they can’t sign them.

But McCollum is in year 1 and is in roster fill out mode.
He has one returning scholarship player. If we are good or even halfway decent this coming year it'll be somewhat of a miracle

Yeah...I'm not worried about who plays this year. but rather how they play.

He’s not far from having a really solid roster.
Yeah, if he gets the big kid from Robert Morris (heard the Grand Canyon big is no longer visiting), this Mormon and supposedly has the former Xavier recruit on the way it's a damn good roster comparatively. At worst it is a nice step above his Drake roster from last year and a sure fire NCAA Tournament team.

Yeah, I mean you don't want to make L.Wade's argument about recruiting to depth, but it is different when you are building a roster.

I was told in the NIL era that you can build an NCAA tournament team from scratch in one year.

You absolutely can and that’s what he is doing. He’s also not just signing random schmucks to fill out the roster, but guys that actually make sense and can get some opportunities to grow into the next wave of starters. But you already know that.

Iowa will make the NCAA Tourney. I wouldn't be surprised if they make the Sweet16 if they get the right seed/matchup.

Manyawu could be considered an undersized 5, but that would be asking a lot out of him in the Big Ten. Outside of that, freshman Jirak is a center.

Probably the biggest portal need right now.
And he committed 5.8 fouls per 40 last year. He can give minutes there but we don’t want him as primary. If they get Alvaro, same deal.
