He met with the coaches today and they told him he’d need to take a pay cut to stick around. I’d assume he’ll be popping up in the portal tomorrow.
That's not exactly what happened, FYI

It’s also pretty wild how it less than six years we have gone from “Ryan Kriener has really developed into a nice player over his four years” to “ yeah I realize he hit the biggest shot in recent Iowa history but it’s probably a smart financial decision to let him go elsewhere for his senior year”

NIL pay is only going up. I can see the blue bloods spending $50m/year.

Don't be surprised if Iowa fan is down on whoever the portal additions might be.

McCollum may pass on "name" guys and target lower rated kids who look like they'll do what he wants, the way he wants it.

The two expensive transfers last year didn't end up doing much.

If he comes up with D2 pg and a honky big, the fan meltdown will commence. And they might be perfect fits.

Shouldn't even Iowa fan be able to see how effective Iowa State has been at marrying a really good coach/staff with the right portal transfers? When did ISU get some great name out of the portal?

Iowa fan should understand that the right guys with the right coaches is going to be worth more than names.

That doesn't mean we should avoid them at all cost every year
Not what I'm saying.

I suspect that McCollum is really going to emphasize "fit" -- which may create some interesting results.

It also may be why Iowa can compete with blue bloods for him.

I will trust whatever Ben does up until his results prove him to be a questionable decision maker. At this point, he deserves nothing but praise.

I would argue that iowa has more pure scorers on the roster than TJ did when he put his current team together.

Again, everyone understands and i would imagine leaving on good terms. We'll be better off for it and he will as well. Win/win/win.
