It did lead to a big bump, but the issue remains that so did way too many other schools. All of a sudden Vanderbilt and similar schools are running around with $3m-$5m to pay the same players. It started with a few select schools with big money the first year of this, and now everyone has a war chest.

When teams like Cincy are offering $5m+ for a fucking St. Mary's center that averaged 9 points and 8 rebounds or Vanderbilt has $4m for a lead guard, having $4m and $3m might as well be like having a nickel vs. a billion dollars.
