We are now set for next year. Hope banks is able to come back too. #2 rated offensive rebounder makes me more excited for mckeever. We need post defense and rebounding and looks like he will deliver. His stats don't wow you though, 23 minutes only 10 starts and unrated as an incoming freshman, how is that possible at 7'3" without being a complete stiff. I said this before but put jirak on a mid major and he would avg similar or better in the same minutes.

I believe McKeever is a more polished rebounder and post presence. Jirak became a post player after a growth spurt about 3 years ago. Jirak can get there in a year or two.

Obviously twitter is conglomeration of retards, but holy fuck the Iowa basketball fanbase is super retarded.

I guess this is the cost of not reaching the sweet 16 for 26 years.

I can only assume that you are being intentionally retarded at this point, but damn you are spending a lot of time on it.

McCollum loves the guy. He's not sending Banks anywhere and if he returns he will be back in the starting lineup
Absolutely and he is the foil to every Fran recruit possible. Not super skilled, but not a total faggot. If he can return he will start and get tons of minutes. Iowa will probably be better if he is on the roster.

My thing with Banks isn't liking or disliking him, but I hate keeping guys around on a technicality that have exhausted their eligibility. Nearly every time it backfires or it stunts the natural development of other players that likely can end up better. bohannon, Connor, a ton of the football players, etc....

It's mostly a karma thing and he's not enough of an impact player that he can't be replaced by a developing combination of Sage / Koch / Thompson / Harris.

Iowa Football brought back a ton of COVID year defensive players in 2024. Had to watch Quinn Schulte fuck around at Safety playing like he didn't want to be there while 2 much better players rotted away and didn't get snaps. Brought back both Jay Higgins and Nick Jackson, and on the surface that looked great. I love those two guys, a couple of my favorite Hawkeye LB's ever. Brought back Sebastian Castro who had a shitty year. Team went 8-5 and disappointed with a defense that was way worse than it should have been.

If they don't come back and take their COVID years and leave as they naturally should have, then Iowa would have figured out much earlier which of the LB's sucked and which ones could play. Sharar would have gotten a whole season as a starter. Nwankpa would have played the position he should have played the whole time a year earlier. Lutmer would have played way more.

2025 Iowa Football went 9-4 and was 2-3 plays away on defense from being 10-2 or 11-1 in the regular season and making the College Football Playoff. If all those younger guys got more experience the prior year, if Phil and Seth Wallace figure out they needed to play different LB's or go get a better option, do they win those games against Iowa State or Indiana or Oregon? Do they win all of them? Do they make a stop at USC and not have to drive down at the end and lose because they were out of bounds by an inch?

Shit like that. I think you still have to do things to compete, but letting middling players or even good players hang around getting in the way of younger and more talented players is a bad idea.
