Good luck replacing that explosiveness.
I also think most of Banks’ minutes come at the 3 (maybe at the expense of some of Sage’s minutes) instead of the 4. I do think Sage has more upside, especially as a shooter and ball handler, but Banks gives you something as an on ball defender that Sage doesn’t.

There will be no Banks minutes at the expense of the team or other guys on the team. We just watched McCollum basically not play one of his most expensive acquisitions for the entire season.
No kidding, he did it to Banks the game after his best performance ever against Florida. Ben knows what will translate against certain matchups and isn't afraid to sit his best players if the matchup isn't there.

I also watched him play Hausen for 15 minute stretches at the end of the season and lose to Maryland and Penn State when he got too caught up in the game. He's still learning as well!

Who is the top scorer next year? Sage? Koch? Mckeever? Thompson possibly?
I think that Coleman has to be considered for the top three, as McCollum's guards usually have high usage rates.

I'll go Sage, Koch, Coleman in that order

Leading scorer usually going to be someone that can get his own shot and get to the line. Not sure that is Koch as he is going to be more spot up dependent. Sage might not be in the right position often enough to do that unless McCollum starts calling a lot of specific plays for him, but he is the most athletic and willing to go to the rim along with improved shooting.

I'm guessing it will be Coleman on usage and ability to get to the free throw line and who will have the ball in their hands as the clock winds down.

Either way, likely going to be the sort of team that has 5-7 guys all within a few points of each other and well balanced.

For the reasons Doug stated, I guess Combs will be the guy instead of Coleman. I think he is going to be the one with the ball in his hands with the shot clock winding down and has shown the ability to get to the rim. Coleman is going to have an adjustment period playing in McCollum's system.

Koch.

I think by the end of this coming year, Koch will be getting about 17-20 ppg
I don’t think he’s aggressive enough but that would be great. He’s not terrible off the dribble, just doesn’t do it much.

That’s fist team conference numbers and a pretty big leap in production from last year.

Yeah, that would be a massive leap. Stirtz didn't even average 20 points per game this past year. Pryce Sandfort went nuts and got to 18 per game.

Hope it happens, but I think something in the line of Wieskamp second year at 14 points per game is more realistic. He would need to take a big step forward driving the ball and finishing or getting to the line.

If Koch somehow does that, then he's gone to the NBA after this year.

No way Koch averages near 20. Next year will be more balanced A PG in Ben’s system has a chance at those numbers, but not with who have now.

I think that will be the beauty of Iowa next year, and that is pretty much everyone short of Cam Manyawu will be capable of scoring 20+ points on any given night.

Do we know the price tags for these guys? My neighbor claims from his source that McKeever cost in the area of 2-2.5 Mil, so that would fall within Beebs expectations/wishes.

I expect the offense to be more consistent with far fewer stretches where the ball gets stuck.

next year the ball will be popping.

People were saying $3m earlier in the week, but it's all just guessing.

I am going to go out on a limb and guess McKeever will be our leading scorer. He jumped from 2pts/2rbs as a freshman to 8/9 as a soph at only 23 mins a game. Big men take longer to develop and he will make another jump in production Junior season. I am guessing he will lead scoring mainly because scoring will be spread out pretty evenly amongst the other players.

Counter point to this -- watch the TAMU tournament game, his games against Gonzaga, etc. He is not good around the rim, other than rebounding. I am optimistic HBBCBMcC will maximize his abilities.

Neither Manyawu or McKeever can shoot and will only score consistently at the rim. They have no midrange or distance scoring ability. McKeever was 43% on 91 attempts in the post though he was better on rolls and put backs at the rim. He shot only 60% from the free throw line this past year after a little over 30% the previous year. Both will be liabilities in late game situations when the opponent needs to foul. McKeever is being brought in to defend and rebound, not to score.

Ball will be popping but not sure who is going to shoot. Scoring will be tough. Mckey will be a presence but find it hard to believe his scoring will go up with the level of play. Combs and coleman will be a solid backcourt. Not consistent scoring tho.
