Oklahoma offer within the last week. Looks like he'll need a year to put on good weight. We'll call him Joey Matteoni's replacement for now.

Sounds like he was starting to blow up and would pick up a bunch more offers by the end of summer. He's skinny right now (duh) but finishes tough and with 2 hands. Very skilled kid that looks like he's going to be really good.

Would love to finally get a freshman guard, but who knows what their recruiting philosophy is. Mccollum has earned the benefit of the doubt already after a year.

The 5 in 5 rule is going to be a mess the first year. Iowa essentially only has on roster spot open, and zero now if this new kid comes in plus Combs and Manyawu stay.

Much like Banks this year, I hope Combs and Manaywu move on.

Not necessarily. A short white kid might at least have some sense of lateral quickness.
Fuck that. Give me the 6'10" white wing all day over the Brock Hardings, J Bos, and Brady Ellingsons of the world. Especially on a well coached defense. Brock Harding was quick but could only guard one position and wasn't even good against that position; he got bullied by bigger guards all the time. A 6'10" kid has flexibility with who he can be matched up against and gives you additional advantages in rebounding and help defense.

Yes, let’s pick the shortest and least athletic people imaginable to make an argument.

There are plenty of white kids that are physical and can guard.

No upper level big ten teams offering leads me to believe this kid is overrated on rivals.

McCollum was a little worried this kid was gonna get a lot more offers by the end of the summer.

It’s also obvious he’s trying to assemble a roster that looks similar to what Illinois had last year minus the whole eastern bloc thing. Lead guard surrounded by tall guys that can shoot.

I’m also curious where Ethan Harris ends up fitting in long term. He’s much more of a creator than someone like Coon. It wouldn’t shock me if he plays some guard at some point

Yeah, looks and feels exactly like a coach grabbing him before the cat is out of the bag.

The guy you’re responding to just watched Cooper Koch, Tate Sage, and Alvaro Folguerias play pivotal roles in Iowa’s first Elite 8 in nearly 40 years and still formed that opinion. Yes, please bring me more Mike Gesells.
