Can we agree that with the numbers Stanzi put up that season that we should have won more games? And the defense that got manhandled in the 4th. Look, there were several other reasons why we lost that game, but that doesn't change the fact that Ricky shit the bed when he had a chance to win it at the end.and fake punt debacle? This is the first I've heard Stanzi blamed.I may be misremembering, but wasnt the issue in the Wisky game the time out debacle?
No. Michigan State was the ONLY game in 2009 where Stanzi had to be clutch (!!!) in the last 5 minutes.no way. the 2009 team was also in a ton of close game and lucky as shit at times.Because I'm hesitant to say he "regressed". He was put in more situations like that in '10 because of the defense. Law of averages.how in the fuck can so many people refuse to recognize how bad he was at the end of games his last year?
i am not arguing that he wasnt better much of the time, but he clearly regressed in some important areas.
Absolutely. He played well enough for us to win, but not well enough when we needed him to win it.Can we agree that with the numbers Stanzi put up that season that we should have won more games? And the defense that got manhandled in the 4th. Yes. But not coming through is not necessarily the same thing as shitting your pants.Anyone see Tom Brady, joe Montana, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers not come through late in a game?
Because we couldn't cover a fake punt. We because we couldn't get off the field on 4th and 10 against OSU. Because we couldn't stop Minnesota in the 4th. Because we couldn't stop Arizona in the 4th.Absolutely. He played well enough for us to win, but not well enough when we needed to win.Can we agree that with the numbers Stanzi put up that season that we should have won more games? And the defense that got manhandled in the 4th. You are remembering correctly. Iowa got a first down at the 39 yard line with 12 seconds left and instead of spiking the ball they called their last timeout. They did setup a good play but Watts blew it up and Stanzi chucked the ball under hand to Robinson who didn't get out of bounds. Here's the youtube. Last play is at 3:16. I can't get the embed to work.I may be misremembering, but wasnt the issue in the Wisky game the time out debacle?
ricky had a lot of pressure to perform late in the indiana, wisconsin, and michigan games as well.No. Michigan State was the ONLY game in 2009 where Stanzi had to be clutch (!!!) in the last 5 minutes.no way. the 2009 team was also in a ton of close game and lucky as shit at times.Because I'm hesitant to say he "regressed". None of those guys ever "shit their pants"?Yes. But not coming through is not necessarily the same thing as shitting your pants.Anyone see Tom Brady, joe Montana, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers not come through late in a game?
I'm glad you mentioned the OSU game. We got the ball back with just under 2 minutes left and a chance to win or tie. Do you remember how that drive went? We had zero chance. Zero.Because we couldn't cover a fake punt.
Doesn't count! Wasn't in the last 5 minutes! If you counted that, then Indiana and Michigan, at a minimum, have to count as "clutch" performances in 2010 also.ricky had a lot of pressure to perform late in the indiana, wisconsin, and michigan games as well.No. Michigan State was the ONLY game in 2009 where Stanzi had to be clutch (!!!) in the last 5 minutes.no way. the 2009 team was also in a ton of close game and lucky as shit at times.
It wasn't the middle of the field. Stop lying.Throwing the ball to A-Rob 5 yards away in the middle of the field was inexcusable regardless of the time out. Junior high kids know better than that.
It's great, isn't it? I've hardly spent any time thinking about the vicious raping we are about to be subjected to this weekend.Just popped back in to thank you guys for distracting me from remembering how badly Vandenberg sucks.
4th and 10.I'm glad you mentioned the OSU game. We got the ball back with just under 2 minutes left and a chance to win or tie. Do you remember how that drive went? We had zero chance. Under the circumstances it was a completely fucking retarded throw. Stop trying to defend it.It wasn't the middle of the field. Stop lying.Throwing the ball to A-Rob 5 yards away in the middle of the field was inexcusable regardless of the time out. Junior high kids know better than that.
Marvin McNutt was in the very middle of the field. ARob was a solid 5 yards to Stanzi's right of McNutt and outside of the hash marks. Not in the middle of the field at all.It wasn't the middle of the field. Stop lying.Throwing the ball to A-Rob 5 yards away in the middle of the field was inexcusable regardless of the time out. Junior high kids know better than that.
It wasn't a very smart throw, no. But it wasn't as dumb as you guys are making it out to be.Under the circumstances it was a completely fucking retarded throw. Stop trying to defend it.It wasn't the middle of the field. Stop lying.Throwing the ball to A-Rob 5 yards away in the middle of the field was inexcusable regardless of the time out. Including the quarterback.no way. the 2009 team was also in a ton of close game and lucky as shit at times.Because I'm hesitant to say he "regressed". You are out of your fucking mind. IT WAS THE WORST POSSIBLE THING HE COULD HAVE DONE BESIDES TAKE A SACK, WHICH HE HAPPENED TO DO A FEW PLAYS BEFORE.The Wisconsin throw was more of a bad throw than a bad decision. ARob was pretty much on the numbers when he caught it, but A) Ricky threw it too low and B) ARob for some reason squared up instead of running straight out of bounds.
The bigger problem in that game was Kirk's retarded clock management.
Well that and the fake punt and not being able to get off the field on 4th and 4 later in that drive. The Wisconsin throw was more of a bad throw than a bad decision. ARob was pretty much on the numbers when he caught it, but A) Ricky threw it too low and B) ARob for some reason squared up instead of running straight out of bounds.
The bigger problem in that game was Kirk's retarded clock management.
Was Robinson in the middle of the field Doug? Or maybe I should say WAS ROBINSON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD DOUG?You are out of your fucking mind. Robinson didn't have a prayer to get out of bounds.
LOL. It was a retarded pass.Anyone who even tries to defend that last pass by Ricky on any level should just cut off their own dick and shove it up their ass. You are a retard.
He was on the hash when the ball was thrown, a step and a half over when he caught it and on the numbers when he was tackled. Was Robinson in the middle of the field Doug? Of course it was, which is why Mikey and Whatever defending it as if it either wasn't that bad or somehow Robinson's fault is enough to get you beaten in some countries.LOL. It was a retarded pass.Anyone who even tries to defend that last pass by Ricky on any level should just cut off their own dick and shove it up their ass. You are a retard.
They weren't within field goal range. The line of scrimmage was the 39 yard line that is a 56 yard field goal. No way Meyer is making that. They would have been better off throwing a Hail Mary. That is why Stanzi threw the ball to Robinson, because they needed a few more yards. Maybe he could have thrown it away and tried one more play but there would have only been 6 or 7 seconds left.He was on the hash when the ball was thrown, a step and a half over when he caught it and on the numbers when he was tackled. Was Robinson in the middle of the field Doug? Or maybe I should say WAS ROBINSON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD DOUG?You are out of your fucking mind. So, while not the exact middle of the field, it was enough to the middle of the field that is was a fucking retarded pass and decision which both announcers immediately pointed out.
Horrible, horrible decision that ultimately ended the game with Iowa down 1 and within field goal range.
I will take a 56 yard field goal and a chance to win over Robinson laying on the turf 5 yards upfield with no time left. They weren't within field goal range. The first one was his fault. The last 2 were ATROCIOUS blocking.4 straight sacks. Lol.

This is 100% correct. This is all really simple and everyone is pretty much right if they would take their head out of their ass.
Ricky 2010 was really, really good for about 3 1/2 quarters. Interceptions were way down and efficiency was up. The drawback is the way they programmed him to get to that point (avoiding risk and checking down) is also the reason he was garbage in last drive situations. He couldn't turn off what they had taught him the previous 8 months and he didn't have the same instincts at the end of games. This, combined with some really shitty linebackers and a lack of adjustments on Defense caused Iowa to lose games they should have won.
Not all that hard to figure out.
The first one was completely his fault and ultimately it was the only one that really mattered since it was on first down and put them in a huge hole where the defense could send everything at him on the following plays. The first one was his fault. The last 2 were ATROCIOUS blocking.4 straight sacks. Lol.

I remember how much Hell it was waiting around all fucking day for the Hawks thinking that maybe, just maybe, these Hawks could contend for a title. Then we all know what happened. What a letdown of a season. Christ.I remember how excited I was about taht season and that game in particular. The hopes were still sky high.![]()
I remember Auburn and Clemson going into OT and not being able to see the game or get it up on radio, then the first highlight they showed was Arizona blasting through the line to block the punt and Iowa was already down.I remember how excited I was about taht season and that game in particular. The hopes were still sky high.![]()
I was excited too, considering how we had absolutely piss pounded ISU the week prior. I know we tend to play shitty in the West (was at 2004 ASU) but I was still very confident about our chances of winning that game.I remember how much Hell it was waiting around all fucking day for the Hawks thinking that maybe, just maybe, these Hawks could contend for a title. Exactly. When Binns picked that ball it should have been over.I remember Auburn and Clemson going into OT and not being able to see the game or get it up on radio, then the first highlight they showed was Arizona blasting through the line to block the punt and Iowa was already down.I remember how excited I was about taht season and that game in particular. Went nuts when Binns intercepted the ball and ran it back thinking there was no possible way they were going to lose at that point.
Except we missed the extra point that would have tied it IIRC.Exactly. Yeah, I just remember thinking FUCK THESE GUYS for bringing up how poorly we play on the road, as that 2004 team had nothing to do with this team, but then we went out and blew it.I was excited too, considering how we had absolutely piss pounded ISU the week prior. I know we tend to play shitty in the West (was at 2004 ASU) but I was still very confident about our chances of winning that game.I remember how much Hell it was waiting around all fucking day for the Hawks thinking that maybe, just maybe, these Hawks could contend for a title. Fuck 2010.
