that is fucking stupid. If Brad Banks was the QB at Iowa this year, we would have a legitimate shot to go to the Big Ten Championship.
No it isn't. Have you seen the fucking Big Ten this year? If they had Banks, they could have a shot at a 6-2 Big Ten record which would give them a chance this year.that is fucking stupid. If Brad Banks was the QB at Iowa this year, we would have a legitimate shot to go to the Big Ten Championship.
The Banks of 2002, or the Banks that struggled to play in Canada? He had a pretty good season for the Barnstormers in 2011 though. Did he get cut or retire? No it isn't. Yeah, I think he's just solving a problem. That had to be in Russia or some eastern european nightmare country.
First of all, you should remember Tom Poholsky. He was bad. And you should remember Paul Burmeister. He was fucking terrible. Here are some truths related to Iowa QBs.
1. Those who say that JVB is Christensen level bad are showing how little that they know about QB play. JC has his own place in the Iowa QB circles of hell. He was the worst QB to play meaningful minutes at Iowa post-1980, with the possible exception of anyone from 1995 - 2000 as my ability to watch games in those years was limited.
Wasn't Corby Smith a USC transfer? I think he left USC when his dad got fired. At the time, Iowa fans thought they were getting something good.First of all, you should remember Tom Poholsky. But you - like most Iowa fans - have allowed 1994 to be stricken from your brains. And this is understandable, because we were goddamn terrible in 1994. But 1994 was to Iowa quarterbacks what 2004 was to running backs. And after Ryan Driscoll broke his collar bone, our quarterback was a transfer from Michigan State named Mike Duprey. And after he died (or something) a dude named Corby Smith quarterbacked the team. Finally Matt Sherman came in for the last three games and we had our quarterback for the future (ha!).
Duprey and Smith are clearly the worst quarterbacks to start a game in the past 20 years.

http://www.mutigers.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/smith_corby00.htmlPlayer: Smith spent 1993 and ‘94 as a quarterback at the University of Iowa. He transferred there after two years at Southern California. He lettered his second year at USC as a special teams player and backup quarterback and lettered once as a QB for the Hawkeyes

Good post, Fro.Some of this shit is getting out of hand now. Damn. You can't even utter Vandy in the same sentence as Christensen, he's fucking lightyears better than that turd. Vandy started that Minnesota game lights out, 7/7 or 8/8 and he's shown flashes of brilliance in the past that Christensen never even sniffed. Anyone ever remember Christensen stringing that many completions together in a row? Hell, I don't remember him stringing even 3 or 4 in a row together, to be honest. Vandy singlehandedly won that Pitt game for us last year while throwing for 400 yards, could these other turds you guys are referencing ever do something like that?
This is not to say that he hasn't regressed this year but a lot of that probably has to do with a new OC and scheme. I suspect he'll settle into the new system more as the season wears on. If he doesn't, then you can start having a discussion about him being a terrible quarterback but that still won't justify putting him anywhere close to the category that Christensen is in.

It is relevant to this discussion, as you have admitted in the past to saying positive things about Iowa's starting quarterback for the sake of saying positive things about Iowa's starting quarterback.Youre right, Strat. I was most definitely wrong about JC. Thanks for bringing it up as im sure most people have completely forgotten about it. Continue to do so, please, as im sure it will continue to be relevent[sic] years from now regardless of how many things I will say that will turn out to be correct.

I''m assuming you don't really think Vandy is better than Banks, but rather you feel bad for Vandy and are compensating for all the criticism he gets from other fans.
P.S. All-Big Ten.
