For Big10 home games, the team would stay the night at the Highlander.

Why do snow plow trucks sometimes just ride around when it's not snowing?
There are three reasons why you might see plows on the streets on snowless days. One is that every driver undergoes pre-season training. Skills must be sharpened and routes need to be learned and relearned. The second reason is that the trucks may be scanning the city for secondary cleaning (cleaning the streets where vehicles were parked during the plowing of the streets). The third reason is that the trucks can be sanding main break areas that are out of their view, or other problem areas.

Did you know that there was only 1 season of Dr Tom's 13 at Iowa that he did not have an NBA Player on the roster?
1993-94 - which would have been Chris Street's Sr Year

I know he inherited a team with like 5 NBA Players but that's still a pretty impressive resume for someone we ran out of town because he "couldn't recruit". Also, interesting to think how the rest of the '93 season and Street's senior year would've played out if he hadn't passed and how that changed Hawkeye basketball history potentially.

Street's death was the beginning of the end for Dr. Tom.

No...it is why the players all saw the scene...they all left the hotel. Winters went back to their apartment (they lived on Market Street in Dr. Riddle's building) and when he realized Chris' car wasn't there he started to worry that it had been Chris' car they saw when they were leaving The Highlander. Not to be all "INSIDER!", but, at the request of a staff member I picked up 3 of the players that night and drove them to Carver....all 3 were at their apartments, not the hotel.

It doesn't mean some didn't still go back to their apartment (as you noted), before getting back to their room at the Highlander later in the evening. Lookingbill said they had to be in their room (at the Highlander) by 10 or 11pm (given the timeline, it was probably 11pm). Lookingbill said that he ate dinner a little early at the Highlander that night, then went back to his apartment and was watching Michigan vs Indiana on TV when he got the call to get to Carver ASAP after the Chris Street accident.

Yep, who knows how far that team advances in the tourney. And then what the next season and Street's potential pro career looks like. Maybe changes how Raef or Collison would look at the program and what a homegrown Iowa kid could do as a Hawkeye?

And the Streets need to model Christian forgiveness and forgive the driver. And no one really knows if he was speeding. The girlfriend was looking down and Chris died.

The documentary was outstanding. Watched it with my son and it was a great way for him to learn that part of Iowa history.
Juat a tragic situation on so many levels. I also know Pence. I met him a few times before realizing who he was. And, he‘s a nice guy.
