Holy fuck. Another one. That's like 7 epic posts in one day.

Final year of BCS as well as Legends vs. Leaders, so what are ... Reply
Thoughts of Hawkeye Report fans?

Will the Big 2 actually play for the title in the Big Ten? The worry of final game, Michigan vs. Ohio State, then Same Line up in title game?

It would be poetic if Big 2 don't ever play and even more if neither would make the game in the 3 years Leaders vs. Legends.

Ohio State - better chance over UW. PSU - ineligible
Michigan - do they win Legends?

It is going to be an interesting season in Big Ten. Here's to Iowa surprising in '13. Wins at Kinnick and Ames would be nice this year.

Who plays in final BCS?

SEC will have one team in right?

Big 12 - Who's good enough?

The Pac 12 plays the Big Ten a little this year? How will I am a giant douche perform? First up: Northwestern @ Cal... if Fitz wins at Cal I be impressed. MSU beat Boise last year for conference pride.

Wisconsin and Nebrantska didn't impress early last year and Cal nearly beat Ohio in OH

Less than 4 weeks... after watching Hall of Fame enshrinement last night... I am looking forward to 2013 College Football.

On Iowa!

I don't think he thinks that. Just stating that MSU beat a good team in non conference. His thoughts are just too all over the place for most people to reconstruct into something they can understand.

I find it fucking hilarious that people that pay to use HRHL have to put up with the inane bullshit that CID posts.

The upcoming season is going to be an interesting one for Iowa?

Can Iowa get to 5-3 and 8-4 overall? Down the road will 5-4 and 8-4 be par for a season?

Is par golf good enough for the Iowa fan base?

Over at Iowa State, 6-7 with a bowl loss isn't hurting ticket sales. Of course, Northwestern went 50 years without a bowl win and coming off a bowl win this season has the Wildcats looking for a division title run.

IOWA is in a slump right now. The lows at Iowa have never been at the level of Iowa State or Northwestern in Football.

Coming off a 4-8 season, clearly Iowa will hopefully be hungry to right the ship. Much of the off season points to Iowa potentially moving in the right direction.

Except for the loss of CB Micah Hyde, the depth and roster appears better for 2013, than 2012.

The coaching staff is new, except for head coach, strength and conditioning... three other coaches in new roles. However, the mix of youth and experience appears refreshing from a coaching standpoint. They appear to be strong teachers and mentors, which is extremely important at a school like Iowa.

Iowa was awful in 2012. The Here and Now should be interesting. Will Kirk Ferentz get his young team the pass more tests than not in 2013. Iowa has a good schedule to see whether this team can pass the grade or not.

I am looking forward to 2013. Couldn't say that as well last year.

Here's to Iowa surprising in 2013. peace

IOWA was coming off 8 straight bowl seasons in 1989, the 100th year of Iowa Football, but finished with a losing season. Last year, Iowa was coming off 10 bowl eligible seasons and finished an awful 4-8.

We have all the Powell and Daniels comparsions going on...

But, how will the season compare to Iowa seasons past?

IOWA will be challenged by a tough Legends race, but opportunities are present for some recovery in the new season. The big question is how much recovery?

The first five weeks prior to Homecoming should be very interesting.

Play the best player or highest recruited person at the position?

USC @ Hawaii Thurday to kickoff 2013...

Max Wittek vs. Cody Kessler

The thread on burning a redshirt vs. Redshirting a player.

Last night, Chuck Long commented it is good when you can redshirt players at certain positions (quarterback), but sometimes they are too good not to play, as BTN Live discussed PSU QB position.

The 2013 season is a day away. I wish I could take a 5 day weekend and enjoy it all.

Man it is hot in Iowa. Hopefully, Iowa will steamroll over the Huskies, but that will be difficult with QB Lynch leading a good seasoned offense.

Play the player who will execute and most likely put Iowa in a position to win. Looking forward to the 2013 edition of Hawkeye Football. They should hopefully surprise in the Legends division.

One I kind of enjoy is bridawg21. First hilarious bro name. Second, he posted pics of a Hawkeye themed wedding including groomsmen with eye shadow and holding footballs.

BTW cid is out of control with new threads this week.

Damond Powell nickname Reply
I must say I'm pretty stoked about this young man and the dimension he could bring to this team, so how about: Double Deuce is on the loose.

I know a bit corny, see what y'all come up with.

At least Double Deuce and 6Deuce would be proportionately accurate nicknames.

I bet that guy will be watching games on tv with his 2 friends and yell 'DOUBLE DEUCE IS ON THE LOOSE!' anytime Powell touches the ball.

I don't understand the need to give every player a nickname. If one receives a nickname it should happen organically.

Tyler Ulis Chant in Kinnick. Reply
Is there any other way that Hawkeye fans can let Tyler know that he is our number one basketball priority?

If you know a student who is going to the game let them know about the situation and what a huge boost to the BBteam he would be and what it means if he picks the Hawks over MSU and Kentucky.

Does anybody know where he will be in the stadium?

What if Iowa...

had a replica of the opposing teams mascot (in a blow up type air-costume) and have one of the Hawk team captains (or third string honorary captain if Kirk prefers) lay a big hit on him at the 50 yard line (as they run out of the tunnel), just knock the snot out of the mascot (they wouldn't be hurt due to the air-costume)...

had a live trained hawk fly around the stadium before game time then land on his/her trainer on the field.

had the alien horn blast from War of the Worlds, blast whenever the opposing team had a third down (rather than the bell that's only in the fourth quarter).

had the whole stadium (including players & coaches) become completely silent, motionless and just stared at the other team for 30 seconds when the opposing team entered the stadium. Talk about getting inside their heads and under their skin.

pipe in peaceful music to the visitors (already pink) locker room & tunnel, and put images of pink flowers and fields of peaceful serenity inside the opposing teams tunnel. Install floral air fresheners throughout the visitors locker room and tunnel.

What if we had a good football team with coaches who, although not perfect, would utilize personnel efficiently and learn from past mistakes?

Peace

I was a big fan of the "would you rather" thread. Would you rather have a donor start an Iowa hockey program and build an arena OR have $150M donated each to the basketball and football programs. WTF?

These are the same fucks who, when Norm was hospitalized a few years ago, wanted a recording of him played on the scoreboard on big third downs, commanding the defense to "unleash six seconds of hell" like he's some kind of sith lord.

Re: Anyone out there just not really excited this week? Reply

Please NO ONE READ INTO WHAT I AM ABOUT TO SAY AS BEING NEGATIVE TOWARD ANYONE. I get that Iowa isn't playing at the pinnacle of college football right now. I just want to provide a different perspective.

But my former boss Steve Ryan (Head Football coach of #1 ranked NAIA Morningside College), would often talk about Apathy, and how it can creep in in down times and in times of success.

We would study what we, as coaches, were doing in our dailey lives that may allow for it to creep in, and where we left the door open that would show a bad example for our players, and fellow coaches.

The very definition of the word Apathy, states "an absence or SUPRRESSION" of passion, emotion, excitement.

What I feel about this, is that an apathetic attitude is a choice. As fans, we can control very little, one thing we can do is refuse to "Supress" our excitement. LeShun Daniels is showing promise. Mark Wesiman, who folks on here are down on, has rushed for almost 300 yds in 2 games. There are building blocks in place for this team to improve upon.

I just challenge all Iowa fans to fight Apathy by looking for something positive, something to look forward to.

I personally feel Iowa wins this game.

That was a little muddled. People are suppressing their own enthusiasm that would otherwise exist? Or people like me are suppressing other people's enthusiasm that would otherwise exist?

In any event, if this program continues down its current path, I'd argue a clear and unmistakable absence of fan enthusiasm is exactly what it needs. And the clearer, the better. Those showing and promoting it really represent the greatest Iowa football patriots of all.

Bring it in.
