You've said that twice, where the fuck did I say they were going to be a 3 seed? I never, ever said that.

I dare you to post where I said that. I challenge you, Human Clit.

It's outstanding they are a win at Maryland away from 19-5 and playing at home in back to back games that, when they win them, could catapult them into #3 seed or better territory.
That’s what you meant. Don’t be a faggot and try to deny it.

Thanks for ruining the season.

No, it's not what I meant and lol you had to edit the post to get it to say what you hoped it would say (but didn't).

The Human Clit is a real dumbfuck, boyz.

Going out of your way to point out your lack of reading comprehension coupled with a double down on shit nobody said is quite the strategy.

Beat Ohio State and Penn State they go into the BTT at 10-10 21-11, in with bad seed. Beat 1 or more of Nebrantska X2 Wisky Michigan or BTT and seeding improves.
Ben treating expectations like red-headed step-child.

If that scenario plays out, at best we will be like 2-8 in quad 1 games, maybe 1-9 since UW isn’t very good.

it’s the same resume at this point last year.

If we’re comparing resumes at the same point in the season, Iowa had three more losses to date last season.

The Maryland loss was disappointing. Nothing else has really surprised me in a negative way. I do think Ben seemingly had the opportunity and money to land one more impact guard and wish he had done so, but for the most part I saw this team as a group that should make the NCAAT as a 8-10 seed. That’s about where they are.

Washington would have to drop another 24 spots to fall out of Q1. But yeah they need to get another good win.

They were 14-10, 5-8 at this point last year and 1-11 in Q1. They had one road win. Could’ve been 0-11 since Rutgers was back and forth and finished 74. None of the other metrics were close to where they were this year. They weren’t even remotely on the bubble at this time last year.

I agree, but you have to remember that the absolute net ranking doesn’t matter. It’s simply used to group the schedule results.

So we are a really good win for other teams, but our own results are still fairly weak

Well aware. I spend too much time paying attention to this stupid shit. None of their resume metrics or predictive metrics are close to where they were last year at this time. They’re 30-40 spots ahead in all of the metrics listed on the team sheet.

You’re just looking at the lack of Q1 wins. 2-5 vs. Q1 with a road win over a projected tournament team is still much better than 1-11 with a non-postseason team. Road wins and volume of losses matter also. Three more wins has this team safely in. Last year they would have needed 5-2 to even get in consideration.

A (albeit strong) mid major roster mixed with some other decent pieces. Almost certainly making the tournament and I personally just like the philosophy/identity of McCollum and how he wants the team to be. Interested to see how he constructs the team through recruits/portal now that he has more resources to land better talent. He’s almost more concerned with a players mentality than raw talent. I like that approach.

The last 3 games they've just seemed off in the same way. A step slow and out of position on defense and unable to effectively adjust. McCollum didn't just suddenly forget how to coach, so the most likely explanation is guys are playing hurt. And if that's the case I don't see how they manage to get the wins they need with the remaining schedule.

Lol. We have reached the mid-February "these guys lost a couple games, I just don't see how they win again!" stage of the college basketball season.

Purdue the 8 games prior to Iowa yesterday....

- Needed to come back from 9 to beat Iowa at home
- Struggled to beat USC
- Lost to UCLA
- Lost to Illinois
- Lost to Indiana
- Beat Maryland
- Needed to pull out a last minute win at home against Oregon
- Had to come back from 22 down in the 2nd half to beat Nebrantska

Yeah, that's the point. Lol.
Getting obliterated by a beatable Purdue team in front of your home crowd hardly seems like cause for optimism

I thought the point was you can suck for a bit and then turn things around. Which I think is generally true, but you need to be healthy to do that, and I don't think we are

Preseason top 5, will be top 10 across the board this week. Two four-year starters and a third year starter. All three started on the national runner-up two years ago, have won the Big Ten twice. Not very good.

It's February. Shit happens.

Iowa isn't even close to in the worst of it in the Big Ten right now. Michigan State barely beat Rutgers in overtime, then lost at home by double digits to their rival Michigan, lost to Minnesota, lost to Illinois and got schalacked by Wisconsin.

Iowa's won 6 in a row and then lost 2 games, one of them to a Top 10 team. Boo fucking hoo.

I said they're not that good. As in, they're not so good that they should be able to name their score on the road against a tournament-quality Big 10 team

I guess, but what does this even mean? They are clearly better than Iowa, which we all knew, and Iowa shot just terribly. They wouldn't be able to "name their score" every game. It happens.

They probably win 7-8 times out of 10 on a neutral court. They are a really good team.

It takes a whole lot to know the least about sports on this board, but the dad has that market cornered. JFC.
An interesting take considering I’ve been right about everything. Sorry it hurts your feelings though.

It means Iowa isn't a tournament-quality team right now. I wouldn't say that if it had been a close loss and shots just weren't falling. They just haven't looked like themselves the last three games.

To be clear, I think we have good players and I think McCollum is the right coach. But I think key guys are having to play through injuries and it lowers our ceiling dramatically

Yeah I'm just not sure what this means. They're projected to be a 7-9 seed. They are clearly a tournament quality team.

What's so hard to parse out? They were a tournament quality team. Now they're hurting, and beating Penn State and Ohio State looks really uncertain, let alone Nebrantska, Wisconsin and Michigan

This might be a rare situation where both sides are generally right.

Getting smacked by Purdue isn't the end of the world, but Iowa's resume is fairly hollow.

I disagree with, uhh, Thanksgiving Dinner, about Iowa having good players. There is a clear lack of talent. Stirtz is obviously having a great season, and Banks is solid, but there isn't much consistency after that. It worked when guys like Combs, Howard and Koch were taking turns having good games.

They don't look that different than the 3 game losing streak. The Purdue game was an anomaly. Winning any game the rest of the year seems uncertain? I mean, ok I guess, that's sports.

But they'll probably be favored in half the games remaining.

They are still a tournament quality team right now and I see no reason why it's crazy to think they'll go 3-3 the rest of the way.

This isn't a prediction, but I'm just not seeing the disaster that some of you are.

It also helps to point out they went on a long west coast trip, one game back, then an east coast trip and right before this game. Next game is at home, then a short regional trip to Wisconsin and another home game after. It sets up well for success.

He’s been right that his feelings get easily hurt.
I don’t like to lose. Which means I don’t like Missouri Valley level recruits and recruiters. Both of those do hurt my feelings as I think I deserve better.
