Just finished watching on delay. Very fun game. A few observations:

1) Does Murray ever win an opening tip?

2) that was the least rapey Brad U Illini team I can recall. They play hard but not super-grabby that I could see

3) I thought the officiating was w/in tolerances. The only truly terrible call I remember was the late call on Sandfort on that 50/50 inbounds ball he won

Kris ended the game with 19 points and it didn’t feel like he really contributed.

Which is the difference between Fran and a lot of coaches. Perkins was the guy today. Illinois made 0 adjustments because they were focused on shutting down Kris so Fran just let Perkins control the game.

Illinois on the other hand went away from Epps when Iowa had no answer for him instead opting to let Shannon (who is very good) do his own thing on a couple possessions that cost them.

I thought Fran made a good adjustment on Epps. He was burning Sandfort and Connor, so he put Perkins on him, which stopped the layups. It was really helpful when Epps got his fourth. He's going to be really annoying for the next couple years.
