I was really wrong about this team. I’m glad they showed some toughness with the comeback attempt tonight but I thought this would be much tougher team. They are not and it starts with Patrick. He is just abysmal on defense and soft as baby shit on offense and the boards. Perkins is hobbled, Sandfart is a head case, Filip is great against MAC level bigs but average against anyone better and Ulis can’t score.

Relative to other programs, Fran doesn't care much about the portal. One or 2 additions this off season would have been helpful, namely PG and C (defensive rim protector)

Patrick would be nice as a 10 minute bench player but he’s asked to be the 1st or 2nd option.

It’s just a bad, somewhat cobbled together roster. Point guards are not good. They really only have 2 guys that would be considered ‘shooters’ and one is coming off a compound fracture while the other is 0-19 in Big Ten play. They don’t have a true Big Ten center yet carry 3 on the roster. Their backup forward used to play point guard.

I’ve had a few and watched 2nd half on delay but it seemed like a fairly clean game. Penn State not as rapey as they used to be not including Jerry Sandusky. Pickett made a bunch of tough shots. Thought Kris attacked the basket and converted the best he’s done all year.

I had low expectations for this team so my 2023 resolution is just to stick to those and enjoy any pleasant surprises
