Seriously. He gave us some great moments but he needs to move on. When he’s going good it’s good. At all other times he’s as high maintenance as it gets. Words don’t match actions. The amount of coddling assistants have to do on him and Pat is ridiculous.
Then Fran needs to go, because he doesn’t know how to coach defense, nor can get his teams to play defense effectively. Which probably stems from recruiting players that are limited defensively.
It's not typical, but it has been done before. Beilein at Michigan brought in a defensive guy, Alford- as much as we rightly hate him, started putting together better teams when he brought Neal in to take over the offense while he focused on defense.

Yes and no. Beilein had terrible defenses and eventually hired Yaklich and gave him control over the defense. It could be done but Fran is loyal to a fault.
Pretty sure ISU has a lead offensive and defensive coach. Always weird when Otz wanders around as his offensive coach is drawing up a play in the huddle.

From a former Sparty football strength coach, now a co-worker, who knows Maxwell: Maxwell knows what he's doing, but he does what Fran wants done with his players, not what Maxwell would do if left to his own devices.
