Before the Purdue game they had a little ceremony where they congratulated Fran with a video of some of the highlights during his career as well as Beth giving him a ball to commemorate the moment.

The crowd reaction was extremely awkward. Everyone just kinda clapped then sat back down. It sucks, but this is where Iowa basketball is at the moment. You have a good coach/program that a lot of fans have checked out on.

No, there is another option than firing him, and that is they mutually agree it is time for a change and fully support him pursuing another job or taking a year off.

As you point out, he's made 5 straight tournaments and as much as he has a reputation for being a hot head, he also has a reputation for turning struggling programs around quickly. While we are tired of him, he is well respected and a school looking for a proven rebuild coach might pursue him. Schools like Boston College, Virginia Tech, DePaul, Pitt, Vanderbilt and possibly even Georgia Tech could be looking for a new coach.

Most of those schools would be lucky to hire him after their recent track record and I would bet a motivated Fran with one more run left in the gas tank might do really well.

I hope he just takes a year off to watch Jack and then figures out what he wants to do.

I actually thought the student section was great at the Purdue game. The Proctor buzz probably had something to do with it. Just a huge missed opportunity on Saturday and now after last night feels like the rest of the season is pretty pointless.

The last two defensive possessions were fucking terrible but a tough step back 3 that was contested wasn't the worst defense I've seen from Fran's teams. The last possession was an embarrassment. Fucking Sandfart just guided the kid to the rim. At least make him change direction, you pussy.

Harding is a spazz and can't shoot worth a lick but he's quick as hell and could actually stay in front of Maryland's best player if he wasn't getting screened. To me, just the way he releases the ball in his shot, he'll probably never be a good shooter no matter how hard he works on it. He's good at creating for others though and will be really good as he gets older and picks his spots more appropriately.
