Matt Campbell's decision to punt at mid-field with less than 3 minutes to go down 4 points is one of the dumbest things I have EVER seen.

At worst, the other team is going to be playing for a FG, which with your timeout you likely get them to try one and get the ball back in decent position or get the ball back with a chance to tie.

The dignified thing to do would have been to sit on the timeout after Tech got the first down, quietly acknowledging they understood what their decisions had cost them. But then they called the timeout as if it would have some benefit, and looked even more stupid on top of it all. Fucking beautiful.

The only people confused at the end were Campbell and the announcers. When they got the first down I went searching for the I Love It gif.

This is not exclusive to this game, it is a distinct Big XII thing. I think it is running everything out of the shotgun that makes them inept when it comes to kneeling a game out.

They really didn't realize after that 1st down the only thing they needed to do was kneel and LOL at them running a pass option look on that last play before the timeout and kneel down that was dangerous as fuck and ripe for a strip fumble.

It’s a game that even given the circumstances surrounding a frustrating season, Iowa State should still win. It’s going to be freezing cold on Saturday night in Ames and personally, I prefer the team with the elite defense, which is Iowa State. Feels a lot like the West Virginia game a few weeks ago. I do have a healthy amount of respect for this next Texas Tech coaching staff and do not believe that the Red Raiders will roll over at any point in this one though.
