As a kid I lived a couple blocks from Jim Criner's house. One year they beat Kansas the last game of the year to win a conference game. They had a party at his house with search lights and fireworks. I want that kind of year for them... but without the one conference win.
was that the year the goalpost ended up in lake Laverne?

They play some really bad teams, but a last place finish is MUCH more likely than winning their league. A bottom-half finish is about a thousand times more likely than a top-2 finish.

Their players aren’t very good, and are coached by a staff that didn’t do much with those same players with an even weaker schedule.

I'd say Washington St was decent against an ok schedule I just recall him bringing that many of them with him to Iowa St.

They don't seem to get that they are the really bad team on everyone else's schedule
We still lost to them in Chizik's inaugural season, in which they went 3-9. Thinking about that and the avoidable close losses to ISU over the years is making me angry..I love KF but those ISU losses are a stain on the program.

To give you an idea of how bad the offense has been in this series: In Kirk's 12 losses to Iowa State, the defense held Iowa State to an average of 19.25 ppg in regulation. Only once (2002) did Iowa State score more than 24 points in regulation and win. Iowa has held them to 20 or fewer points 8 times under Kirk and still lost.

Across how many different offensive coordinators?

An undisciplined team hardly seems a recipe for success. But then maybe nobody will notice the difference.

Probably the worst loss of the Ferentz era. 2024 is in the running as well.
The 2024 ISU team finished 11-3 and ranked 15th in the final AP poll. Tough in the way it happened....but no where near what I would call the worst loss of the Ferentz era.

The 2014 ISU team SUUUUCKED. That's the worst one. And the only one close is the 2007 (first year of Chizik) season where ISU went 3-9, including losing their other three non-conference games to Toledo, Kent State, and UNI.

Was 2014 the fat Mangino game?

2024 was bad, but it was more of a conventional “wasted opportunities to kill a game off early” game that would have been annoying but not devastating against any other opponent. 2014 was truly terrible.
2024 and last year were annoying wastes of opportunity. 2014 was the worst. maybe 2002, 2001, 2007 and 2011 being up there

What don't you understand? After 27 years of watching Iowa football under Ferentz, those concerns are baked in. Normal people can anticipate other aspects of an upcoming season without fixating on something know to everyone like an autistic psychopath like you.

I might have been thinking of 2022. Which one was the Arland Bruce game?

Also 2012 was bad because it was home and we could only muster 6 points (no weather, etc.) I know that was a "good" ISU team and a record wise bad Iowa one, but this was before we lost Scherff and Donnal for the season due to injury.

the fuck? I am talking about iowa fans in general, and how Lester seems have everyone forgetting about who is still the head coach. And that we really don’t have a QB yet. I mean this is literally a discussion about our lack of offense and how it’s specifically cost us games.

y’all have some anger issues.

I thought this was directed at me. And it still might work.

Every. Single. One. Of. Us. knows who Kirk Ferentz is and his history with quarterbacks and offense at Iowa. Some of us look to the hints of progress over the past two years and see reasons for hope. That hope might be irrational, but every one of us knows that: we have watched Iowa football for a long fucking time. So that hope - that August optimism - comes with skepticism baked in.

Only someone with zero communication awareness would think it's necessary to bring up the counterpoint about which everyone is already fucking aware. And only someone with the self-absorbed narcissism of a psychopath would think he is making some deep, never-before imagined idea when he does so.

You have “certainly” mentioned a narcissistic psychopath in your past couple posts…it’s just not who you think it is.
