if he can stay above .500 I could see him getting offered a job like Minnesota or Illinois when open.
I don’t see either as a big upgrade, probably harder to win at a good clip those places & he’s likely not getting a big name job within the next 5 years.

He ain't getting out of Ames this year, he'd probably need to get to 8-4, 7-5 minimum to get that offer. That's possible, but I don't know that they have a single layup all season on their schedule, so seems pretty unlikely. Agree he'll take any B10 or SEC job he's offered, but don't see that happening after this year.

Big 10 is an upgrade. Period. You know that you're not going to be at a constant resource disadvantage. Plus Minnesota and Illinois have much bigger recruiting grounds obviously.

I don't think most people realize how much trouble Iowa State is in from a budget perspective. They have no money and are acting like they do. Guessing that is why Pollard is "retiring". He wants to leave as the hero Iowa State fans have proclaimed him to be before reality sets in. Reality will be setting in
He's sliding out of town with the silverware in his suitcase.

He’s got nothing but time though if that is in fact his goal. The B12 has a very small number of teams with distinct advantages over the others, and there is going to be ample opportunity to distinguish himself as a coach in that league.

Honesty hour - CJR will be Hok nightmare for years! Big Tin is all hype - Oregon , Michigan, TOSU, Washington all posers! Pedo State will tumble as well. Raynor is a G5 qb and will struggle all year. Barnes will be up the middle back, Flora the end runner. Hayes is our best weapon. Rest of WR’s are FCS at best. Defense is solid. ST pretty good - and the shoving layer into punt is an old Hok trick! We have other qb’s on roster - and 10 games left for one of them to step up! Raynor is stop gap - if he stays as starter then backups are holding a scoli that needs to go to next years qb recruits!
