That's not the way the Grub's statement sounds to me, why not announce you're going to Bama with DeBoer if that were the case? He stated he wasn't coming back.

Coach in waiting thing is so dumb, especially when it’s a guy who has never been in the program. Hire the best guy possible when the time comes. I know you weren’t saying to make it a formal thing and I’m fine with “hey if you’re successful, it isn’t going to hurt your chances for being next HC.” But I think it’s a huge stretch in reality, especially when we don’t even have a permanent AD in place, who will be the one eventually making the call. I’ve seen lots of people saying “KF is taking his time because he wants to pick out his successor.” 1) Tough shit Kirk and 2) In the alternate universe where KF has that responsibility I’m sure he’s picking someone already in the program
